#2 Irennan Apr 10, 2015 17:34:09	As far as I know, he simply decided to switch back because -while right after the SP a deity capable of ensuring order was needed- with the new more luminous times, a symbol of hope and rebirth is more fitting. Basically, Lathander/Amaunator are 2 faces of the same deity that he assumes depending on what is needed.
#3 BRJN Apr 11, 2015 18:25:07	Power of Faerun chapter on Faith mentions a heresy, God of the Three Faces, involving Lathander / Amanuator.  These two, plus an evening personality (not yet explained but possibly Jergal), form a prism which spins slowly and reveals two facets to the world at any given time - except for a brief flash when one face is flat-on to the world.   For MyRealms, I went a step further.  The god of the sun is a four-faced god, like a d4.  Usually he changes faces on a predictable pattern: morning, noon, evening, nadir; each after a set length of time.  But Ao's interference in the universe since the Time of Troubles has messed up the schedule, plus Ao 'rolled the die' personally at the Sundering.  In canon, Ao rolled up Lathander.  For me, he rolled up Amanuator.  I still have to decide what the Evening face and the Nadir face mean and what their personalities are like.  (I hope Deities and Demigods can provide inspiration.)
