#1 LWhitehead Aug 05, 2011 17:24:24	Hi first off long time fan and collector not a player though of D&D, I'm 35 years old and have Asbergers. Now I justed downloaded the old Forgotten Realms TSR DC comic series which inspired me. It's reason why I spend $160 Can on Four D&D 4th books, the Three books to play and the Forgotten Relams campain book as well. Like in original FR comic it will feature original characters, but starting at First level. The first character is a Wizard who arrives from 21th century Earth, yes when he first appears skyclad and without his glasses in a Haystack much to shock and wonder to the farmer owning that stack of Hay. One of the problems I have with this character other then the fact he is 35 years old is that how do I explain his skills and feats and speaking the languages as well such as Elven and Dwaven.  LW
#2 pruano Aug 08, 2011 10:42:39	Im assuming you are talking about a homebrew comic of yours? (you arent very specific on that). Have the space/time travel (which may have been provoqued by someone else) give him the knowledge. Either that or do a "Quantum Leap" type stunt and have the protagonist mind jump into the body of a local.
#3 LWhitehead Aug 12, 2011 16:25:15	No I'm talking about IDW official comic version, if I can't do it by comic then by novel then I want him to be an official FR character. Edward Grey is from the 21th century America Southern states ether Virginia or Georgia state, he is from an old Planter family but he is of 21th century person, Yes he is White but he is a modern multicultural understanding person. Just because one is from an old Southern family doesn't make one a Racist. The reason for Grey's last name in FR is the two reasons, First off is his clothes as a Wizard he wears Grey robes tied with a Gold sash with gold cuffs. Second is the fact he comes from Southern USA states and fromer CSA nation,  I was inspired by Harry Turtledove's Fantasy American Civil War novel series, for this character. Edward Grey would also found in FR the Knights of the Golden Circle which would do the same job as the Harpers which by now desloved 100 years ago. They use a CP to idenify each other.  LW
#4 Mr_Miscellany Aug 12, 2011 16:57:57	One of the oldesr concepts of the Realms (and Dungeons & Dragons) is that mighty wizards, when they grow bored with the worlds they came from, decide to travel the planes and seek power in worlds beyond their own. This concept is behind the idea of Elminster of Shadowdale traveling across the many planes of the multiverse to come to Earth, where he found Ed Greenwood up in Canada. Thus Elminster would impart stories of the Realms to Ed, sometimes in exchange for Earth-based goodies. This is how we Earth based humans first learned of the Realms. Anyway, if we follow the original idea, then perhaps your comic book character came across some objects from the Forgotten Realms that were left behind by another planar traveler; these items could have included spellbooks and books on demihuman languages. This way your character could have learned to speak (at least roughly) some elvish and dwarvish, as well as something of how magic works in Faerûn. Perhaps one of the spellbooks contained a portal to the Realms too?
