| #1mr.atheistNov 18, 2009 1:05:29 | Hello all. My players demanded to play reformed drow in the coming campaign. Sounds like a fun idea with me, I'm a fan of the Drizzt books and comics. Though I'm uncertain what sort of adventures they'd go on once they reach the surface, or even a good place for them to pop up on the surface. We're a very story/RP heavy group, so I need some ideas. Please give me a hand here. ![]() PCs Drow Wizard Generalist (good aligned, no deity) Drow Swashbuckler (good aligned, slight interest in Eilistraee) Drow Cleric of Eilistraee We're running 3.5, but this is mostly a campaign planning question, so version shouldn't make much a difference. I was contemplating a sort of Reputation-Improving campaign in which the party would do quests for surface races to gain their acceptance, but I have a feeling that'd get old fast. So please pass on some ideas. |

She was disgusted by the cruel torture of an elf that her group captured in the High Forest. While she was off on her own, her group was ambushed and wiped out. In her wanderings later, she tracked a group of Goblins on their way to raid Loudwater. In the "Raid on Loudwater" encounter with which we began our campaign, she was on the outside of the town firing arrows at the goblins in the town, while the other PCs were in the town. After the battle, she was captured by the Loudwater patrol who thought that she was leading the Goblin attack. That got straightened out, but then she also faced the prejudice of the other PCs. That also got straightened out eventually, but she still has little children run away when she is around. Her presence at Lady Moonfire's party nearly caused a diplomatic incident with a visiting elf contingent. In short, her character has a hard time in the world. She's decided that she needs to get the Diplomacy skill. |

lets see........one book just getting out of the city.........(1st one) one book spent just wandering the Underdark......(2nd) one book just getting used to the surface......(3rd) one book just being actually recognized as a hero in his own home.... (4rth) one book facing the prejudice of the wider world.....(5th) .......yea that adventuring group will have to go through a LOT of obstacles..... |

| #6mr.atheistNov 25, 2009 22:46:23 | Thanks for the input, everyone. The first game went pretty well. The characters started at level 1, so it wouldn't do to have them hanging around in the underdark. Too many illithids riding beholders. The party managed to rescue a powerful NPC that opposed the "evil drow", and he teleported them to the surface for safe keeping (lest the evil drow riding beholders find them). If we are comparing to the Drizzt series, we're on book three. Just reaching the surface. I read the comic-version of it recently, and picked up a few ideas. Now they are out on their own, in a small cave in a temperate forest. I just need to decide which small cave in which temperate forest ![]() Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I was perhaps thinking of somewhere near Thay and Thesk. Thay is a favored adventuring spot of mine, and Thesk is a land pretty accepting of strange races. So give me an idea, or expand upon my own. Please, wizards of Faerun lore, enlighten me! |

From there you can have them continue their way thru the underdark raising significant levels as they go before ever finding a way to the surface and we also have to remember in drizzt time in the underdark things were much less dangerous than they ever were now with pockets of spell plague, warped monsters, the expansion of mind flyer colonies and drider territories, just take your time and you can come up with something cool.
You could always go for the already surface dark elf story and have them seeking a way back to their homeland which is rarely done in any event, my own drow character isn’t really on anyone’s side he is much like jarlaxel and there for kicks more than anything but he is seeking a way back home with a new wealth of experience and a handy little artefact that could slay his power crazed mother. (its highly amusing when the party is getting a good way into diplomatic talks and I just waltz up and throw down my cloak hood and start insulting everyone, again just for kicks) |
