Any articles or additional info on the Spellplague?

Jun 06, 2010 21:44:29 I'm currently putting something together and want to base it off of the events that happened during the spellplague.
It seems the FR manuals don't go into too much detail about these times and I'm wondering if anyone has done any additional works related? I'm new to the Insider, so there might be something I haven't stumbled upon yet. Any help, links or ideas would be appreciated.

Jun 06, 2010 21:56:20 There's a fair bit in the Insider - namely, the Backdrop articles, which reference the Spellplague and its after-effects during the Wailing Years in certain regions, like Cormyr.

There's also a plethora of novels which either take place during the Spellplague or reference the Spellplague for background/plot information. I put together more than one list of novels which deal with the Spellplague in some capacity, be it actively taking place during 1385-1400 or referring to the Spellplague's events to establish some plot structure. Digging around should yield it, though whether they're worth the cost is a different matter altogether.

All in all, there's not much in the way of in-depth information. Part of the design plan for the Spellplague was to use it as a background for events in 1479 DR, one which wasn't supposed to be filled in with a flood of new lore, as much as some/many people wished otherwise. I do recall Gomeztoo put together a post-Spellplague timeline based on the novels and lore created by Brian R. James, though. I might try to dig that up.

Jun 10, 2010 7:29:04 In some of the RPGA adventures there is more information relating to the Spellplague that detail additional informtation. I don't expect that you will have to go and play these but here is what I can give you off the top of my head:

The Order of the Blue Flame is an organization that sees the Spellplague as being necessary and a natural part of life that should be embrassed. They are hell-bent on seeing the plague spread throughout all of Faerun. Imagine them as a nasty hardcore religious zealot group.

I'll try to add more when I can, but there is also additional information on Plaguechanged lands, specifically those surrounding the Vilhon Wilds, etc...
