Just wondering. Also, in which places is the faith of Kelemvor particularly strong?

I would assume that Impiltur is plagued by undead, being that its also plagued with demons. Those two types of creatures seem to go hand in hand, demons are foul evil creatures that bring foul evil magic with them.

Any undead infested areas near the Dalelands?

And what places are strong in the worship of Kelemvor? Preferably in the same region.

The western Dalelands are currently (year of the Ageless One) plagued by shadow creatures. Some of these are undead.
Undead can also be found in the Dales' underdark, remnants of the faithful of Kiriansalee after the fall of Maerimydra.
I don't know of Kelemvor worship in the Dalelands.

Not sure about it but from Elminsters Ecologies Volume I you can find the guide to the Battle of Bones and the numerous necromantic historic event that took place there. It's not that far removed from the dales.

Also Undead can be found plentifully in the Wealdath in thetyr. South in the great forest there lies a corrupted mythal that animates all bodies within a few miles of it. Only this area is also defended by the elves who prevent anyone from stumbeling apon the dreadfull site.

I think Bhaal was also killed on the bridge of the Winding Waters somewhere near Ashabenford and left an area that is infused with divine essence of death. The dead are more restless near Bhaals deathsite. Perhaps lost souls over there make a strong quest site for clerics of Kelemvor.

Clerics of Kelemvor would probably be plentiful in periods of war or famine, travelling the Dales and never resting in their duties towards the final rest.

The Helmlands in northern Cormyr (which are both north and south of the Thunderpeaks, and include a good chunk of the Stormhorns) is known for strange and evil creatures.

Since the 2e 'Wild magic Zones' = 4e's 'Plagued lands', you're bound to find all sorts of mutated monsters and risen dead in the area (and it still exist in 4e, as per the map that came with Brian James' Cormyr article).

There were also some undead in Myth Drannor, but that would depend on the time period you are playing in. There was also The Vale of Lost Voices in Cormanthor, but I believe that is just a haunt of non-corporeal undead.

The ruins of Phlan also had a large number of Undead, but once again, it sort-of depends on what era you're playing in. That city had it's own 'city of the dead', just like Waterdeep.

-They're not necessarily stereotypical evil Undead, either.

They're not evil in the same way the Eldreth Veluuthra are not evil. :P

In other words: Non-Elves enter at your own risk!

3.x
-Shade & former Tilverton; shadows namely.

Kelemvor is fairly popular in the Western Heartlands (3.0 FRCS). Big monument to him in Cormyr too I think (Skullcrag or something to that affect). He's still a new god, thusly, not many temples and such would be around given chronology of 3.x

-It is a cemetery, of sorts, so...It's kinda like building strip malls over Indian burial grounds.

Any undead infested areas near the Dalelands?

The remnants of the Old Elven Court and the Darkwood around it are haunted by the ghosts of fallen elven and dwarf defenders from the Dark Court Massacre, or were it during the Arcane Ages when Cormanthyr: Empire of Elves gave us the description to that place. Don't know if the place is still like that in 3rd Ed. or post *cough* Spellplague

But there should be more haunted places in the wood of Cormanthor, because there are these ominous Tree Spirits roaming around then some other elfish ghostly remnants and defenders, maybe even some baelnorn here and there guarding some old grave.

Other places with lots of undead were the old ruins of Shoonach, with Vampires and the like and somewhere hidden deep down is the demilich of the Tome of the Unicorn. I think in the lands of the south are more places like that, old ruins of the ancient human empires with mighty mages and magelords and their old graveyards (have forgotten the names, but there were one or two major sites in Calimshan).

In Halruaa were these two swamps, the one of Akhlaur and the other one, especially the second one (damn it, why do they use all those strange names, I can't remember )

You could also use the Flooded Forest across the river Lis (which is a Forest, despite the terrain texture used).

Nothing official, but very little has ever been said about that area, AFAIK, so its a pretty simple thing to put whatever you like there without disrupting canon.

Its a cool little area that's great for DM's hombrew ideas, and it's near several other interesting and cool locales (Like the Glacier of the White Worm and Ironfang Keep). I've even seen a few threads where folks stuck the Temple of Elemental Evil there (from GH) without any problems and few revisions.

What little there is can be read on pg. 159 of the 3eFRCS.

-Golf courses, too. Golf is a sport that gets me angry, embodying the "ideal" Marxist class differential between rich and poor.

Maybe they should build golf-course in graveyards, and kill two birds with one stone.

Either way, there's lots of grass to mow. :P

Polo, too... stupid ponys...

Its not like Wizards doesn't go out of their way to disrupt cannon. ;) So, homebrew people. :P

I ancient times in RL they would bury a dead person in a normal grave and after the body decomposed they would have dug out the bone and put them in a box in a special cave together with a lot of others.
THats the sulotion for the graveyard problem.

Someone mentioned the Battle of Bones, Which IIRC is the largest concentration of undead in Faerun, but I wanted to mention The Vault of Gnashing Teeth, the heart of Kiaransalee's worship, under Vaasa.
The OP had also asked about centers of Kelemvor's worship. There's a Necropolis in Var the Golden led by a priestess of Kel, and devoted to Kel's worship, and the Eternal Order (Kelemvor's Paladins) is based in Ireabor. In my game, I have a large contingent of priests and Paladins at Bloodstone gate, largely b/c of the undead from the Vault of Gnashing Teeth, but also in response to the Dracoliches still in Vaasa from Sammasters' actions in the Year of Rogue Dragons.

Does Warlock's Crypt count?

This might help, a listing of all named temples in the Realms (might be a bit out of date):

Scroll down to 'Kelemvor'.

It is out-of-date. Though I'm presently in the process of updating it to around the end of 3e. I've not had a chance to sit down and start collating all the 4e FR references to new temples for the various deities and such.

But it is still helpful, thanks for that. It is more useful to take a look onto that list, rather than search all the books for the name of some "hidden" temple within the pages. ;)

Aye.

The updated listing of temples will also include the sources for each reference as well.
