Anyone know about the Dragon Coast?

Im looking forward to 4th ed as much as anyone but ive got a question. Im from Australia and ive just found out that we get to play in the Dragon Coast reigon. Now ive looked around and I havent been able to find out a lot about the DC so im wondering if anyone can give me some information, history or whatever about this area.

May 29, 2008 3:07:14 It's largely been ignored in lore really... the FRCS has one of the better descriptions I've seen of it unfortunately. Cloak and Dagger for 2e covered quite a bit on Westgate, and I believe that Champions of Valor covered a new 'kingdom' in the area, and I seem to recall that 2e's Forgotten Realms Adventures mentioned one or two cities (Westgate was definitely one, possibly another, not sure though). The 2e Sea of Fallen Stars accessory might have touched a small bit on them as well, though I seem to recall it being somewhat negligible. Warriors and Priests of the Realms and Wizards and Rogues of the Realms, both for 2e, had some fairly good information on the sorts of folks that come from the region, but not much on the details of the cities. Most, if not all, of those should be available as $4 or so pdf's from places like Paizo or Drive-ThruRPG should you wish to pick them up. Hope it helps some.

May 29, 2008 10:55:01 What kind of information is being looked for? The thing is, it's unknown to what extent the region will have changed for 4E (there's a time-jump of 100 years after all, and the Spellplague), so numerous 3E sources will likely be useful, but it's hard to say how useful.

The novel Temple Hill was a good read and took place in Eversault. But again, if you're playing a LFR game, the Eversault you play in might be quite different from the one in the pre-4E sources.

May 29, 2008 13:25:31 I was kinda after any information (per 4th ed is ok) you know, govenment, is it a tradeing town/city/province/whatever, anything noteable or interesting. Though im a little worried about Stigger's comment, because if thats the case then it make me think we were kinda thown a (for lack of a better term) second hand realm and forgoten about (pun not intended). Still i hope this isnt the case (sorry for the mini rant) and i hope to see some information on the New Dragon coast soon.

Considering the huge drop in Sea-level of the SoFS, figure the Dragonmere is a lake now, and much smaller. Its probably called something lie "The field of Triton Bones" or some such. Then again, I would imagine that everything 'alive' in the Dragonmere got sucked out when the drain was pulled on the sea - the current would have been incredible, and crushed ANYTHING, even Dragons.

If they were being logical, that is..

The Vampire-Clone of Manshoon may in charge of Westgate by 4e as well (if it survives, and theres no reason it shouldn't).

BTW, the map is modified from the official - I made the channel narrower, as it was on earlier edition maps, and as of now, its a hundred years old as well.

May 29, 2008 17:43:22 Doubtful they'd give you a throwaway location... it would make sense for it to be at least somewhat developed if they're running it as a RPGA region. My impression was always that it was one of those areas that was left intentionally vague so that the DM could develop things there to their own liking. Oh, and no problem, glad to be of service.

-Note, that even though this may be your RPGA assigned region, you don't have to stay there, in your campaigns. As much has been said by official RPGA people on these boards.
