Hey gang,

I was wondering if anyone know which God killed Urdlen (the Crawler Below in the Gnomish pantheon), or what his final fate became? An ancient cult of his old gnomish worshippers intent on ressurrecting him are on the short-list on some BBEGs I'm considering for a new 4e Forgotten Realms game.

He's still missing, considering what happened to Eldath and others, and that gnomes are fey now it's possible he'll show up as an unseelie power, archfey or a corrupted world spirit. Or he burrowed so far he ended up in Abeir.

"Swallowed whole by the mighty primordial earthlord Grumbar, Urdlen is not dead but waiting for the clarion call of his faithful to awaken him.  Scratch, crawl, burrow mighty one and find your way to the dark beneath where your children await."

Not fact just a fun thought, Urdlens fate goes unrecorded at this time.  He'd make a good primal spirit though.

Oh, that's beautiful - fits my idea even better than ressurection, as mortals ressurecting Gods tends to be an epic affair, and the game will be in the Heroic tier.

Merely contacting Urdlen to awaken him is a ritual that may fit a Heroic tier game.

Is your game just in the heroic level?

Urdlen has come to power in Returned Toril, combating the armies of Mulhorand and the church of Helm. Fact? Not yet...

The starting level is 4, yeah.

Then if you use an idea like mine for example I'd make the swallowed by grumbar a metaphor.  Heroic is no tier to face off with gods / primordials.

Oh, they wouldn't actually face off with a god or a primordial. Just a cult of crazy followers trying to resummon him.

It could have something to do with the events mentioned in the Class Chronicles series, here:

under Favoured Souls and Beguilers respectively. Two gnomes favoured of Urdlen and Baravar, going against eachother.
