Tell us your favorite stories whether they are fun or just flat out awesome. I guess i'll start off with one: 1: My players, a human ranger, a human mage and a kobold cleric have travelled long to reach icewind dale, they spent all their remaining cash escaping authority in the southern lands and setting up in Icewind Dale. (Namely Luskan, where they bailed the kobold out for reasons i won't bother to explain). Needing a new place to stay, they buy a house in one of the ten-towns. (Can't remember the name atm, but it's far to the east). Unfortunatly their house is destroyed when a white dragon attacks the town. Doesn't take logn before they want revenge. Now my players are quite clever. And through a lot of roleplaying they actually bought tons of oil, without me noticing it. Because they bought it seperatly and we roleplayed in between. Of couse upon meeting the dragon they had two big barrels of oil. Which the ranger and kobold cleric threw at the dragon. The mage of course threw a fireball as a readied action. And they asked how much extra damage this would do. I was kind of shocked by this clever idea (they had planned to do this if they met a white dragon, they were after all former dragonslayers as well). Anyway, the fireball ignited the oil and threw some completly epic rolling on their part they dealt enough damage that i had to rule that the dragons head and body was torn and shredded in half. They continued to complain that they couldn't hang up the head as a trophy in their house once it was rebuilt. So that's how they killed a white dragon in one round :P. EDIT: Come on, there's no one who has had an awesome moment they want to tell about!? I guess that's aweso (since you can't be awesoME without me.) |
| #2dmdJun 03, 2009 22:03:19 | Last game, my players were invading the stronghold of an epic mage in Vassa and doing a pretty good job of it. Long story as to why they were there so I will not go into it. They get through right to the area at the top of the citadel where his apartments are and trip an alarm spell on a failed disable device check and by failed I mean the Rogue rolled a 1. The wizard appears, "How unfortunate for you all to have come such a long way to die." Then one of the players (a 26th level Fighter) who has one wish left on a ring of three wishes, wishes that the Rogue had disarmed the trap successfully. This grants the Rogue a re-roll chance and he makes it. Only the Fighter remembers the incident and is silent about it until later in the adventure where they want him to use his last wish to cast a spell to take down a prismatic sphere they are stuck in. Then they notice he no longer has the ring...... ![]() |
| #3dmdJun 03, 2009 22:09:51 | Now I'll throw in one that I actually was a character in. I was playing a Drow Wizard Mage in a Greyhawk Campaign about 9 years ago. The DM wanted to run the Ravenloft adventure Shadow Rift so we of course wander into the mists and find ourselves in Ravenloft. We soon come to a town held by Goblyns, Worgs and Shadow Creatures. We proceed to fight the battle and win. At the time we were 9th level and probably defeated 25-35 CR 8-10 creatures. The DM says after the encounter "I can't believe you guys survived that, the encounter was written so you HAD to flee!" That was a pretty damn epic fight. ![]() |
| #4StoyrmJun 09, 2009 19:24:00 | I remember playing an CE character in a CG party. The character was basically very selfish and had little remorse for others. Of course my own party decided to assasinate me in my sleep, because they thought i was evil. The dm accepted it though he didn't like it. I didn't really care, except that i felt rather betrayed... Anyways, so i roll up a new character. A Dwarven Fighter called Vark. The party now needing a new fighter picked up this handsome fellow. I think they were travelling in Vaasa. SO they picked him up at bloodstone pass. After travelling for a few days, hunting in vaasa our party comes across a little gorge. It would take us about an hour to go around, so we decide to cross a lapidated bridge that's hanging there. I go first obviously. As i get to the other side and call the others to me, it seems that there was a hole in the ground, where kobolds could come out rushing. I thought okay, four or five kobolds. I should be fine. They win init, and one of them charges me. Bam 20, 20, 20 and out into the gorge we go with Vark the fighter. So i'm like, got a new sheet? Nope, you used the last one. Hmm, okay, did you know that Vark had a brother called Knark? No i figured you didn't.. well he did. I was tired of writing up new characters -.-. |
