Hi everyone. I am woefully deficient in my knowledge of the Realms, and we're about to start Hoard of the Dragon Queen. I have a character which I want to be an outcast mage in training. Is there a community for up and coming mages anywhere near Neverwinter, like a university or something?

Nov 22, 2014 14:35:59 Personally I'm not sure where Neverwinter is myself (I've not adventure in the FR for many moons.....), but on the map that comes with the adventure the action begins relatively near CandleKeep. If memory serves that's some sort of magic/sage center. And northwards of that is Water Deep. ANYTHING fits into WD, whether WoTC has written about it or not.

Longsaddle is sort of near Neverwinter, on the northeast edge of the Woods, and was/is home to the Harpell family of mages who did take apprentices, though I've no idea if they're still there in 4e. Beyond that, the Cloaktower of Neverwinter did train mages, though again, I've no idea if they're still around with 4e. Possibly the Tower of Twilight, on the eastern edge of the Neverwinter Wood, the home and school of Malchor Harpell, is also a possibility as to where one would get trained as a mage. Honestly though, I haven't kept up with 4e at all, so those are all valid as of 3e, but I've no clue if they still exist in the current timeline.

Not much help to you, but my Necromancer for Hoard is actually a Guild member of the Mulmaster Cloaks. Mulmaster is now a town not a city (thats all we know)
