1. Not as of yet, if ever. Although, there are a few books that touch on the subject (a very light touch)

2. For a number of reasons, not the least of which is players feeling constrained, nixing the weave, changing the way magic works, the new structure of power sources in general, etc....

3. Yes, he lives in Silverhand Ranch with the Simbul.

4. Most are dead or reclusive. A few of their fates are unknown at this time.

Most of the information you seek can be found in the FRCG & FRPG.

krownhunter has it pretty well covered, but LK has a better breakdown for your Q on #4.

Of the seven...

Syluné : Extremely dead. Even deader than she used to be.
Alustriel : Dead, seems to have died peacefully.
Dove : Unknown but either she or Storm has been said to be still alive.
Storm : See above
Laeral : Unknown but rumoured to be dead.
The Simbul : Depowered and living with El on the ol' Ranch.
Qilué : Dead, see Lady Penitent books.

What's that I hear you say? 3 Survived out of 7? Yeah. I know.

Oh but I do love being "this guy".

It was a simple inquiry, LK is usually pretty busy, I have a fairly good idea what the correct answer is so I fielded it. Next?

1. Is there any book coming out on how cyric killed mystra?

-Not necessarily directly, but the novels The Fractured Sky and Undead both have parts that take place during the actual event, and the first moments of the Spellplague.

2. Why is there no god or goddess of magic?

-According to the previews, Shar somehow "blocked" a new deity of magic from ascending. The portfolio is available, however, but there's no exact reason why it hasn't been claimed. In metagame context, it's because instituting a new deity of magic similar to Mystra would be counter-intuitive, given why Mystra was removed in the first place.

3. Is Elminster still alive?

-Yes, yes he is, but he is a bit more insane than he used to be, and fears using magic, for whatever reason. As a result, he has more or less "retired"- though, he was "retired" before all of everything happened to him, so...

4.Where are the seven sisters?

  • Alustriel: Died sometime before 1,479 DR, seemingly of natural causes.
  • Dove: Fate unknown
  • Laeral: Died sometime before 1,479 DR.
  • Qilué: Taken by Eilistraee as an Avatar in 1,378 DR, but was beheaded by the Crescent Blade, killing her and her deity.
  • The Simbul: Is hiding in the Dalelands, presumably with Elminster, having left Aglarond.
  • Storm: Fate unknown
  • Syluné: Put to her final rest during the Zhent incursion into Shadowdale in 1,374 DR.

3. Yes, he lives in Silverhand Ranch with the Simbul.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it wasn't explicitly stated that the Simbul is living with Elminster, though that *is* likely.

Wow, Thankyou for all your replys The realms is definately a different place these days and Im trying to catch up. What I need is some kind of comprehensive guide that explains all this. I read alot of novels so I get bits and pieces, but I am always looking for more.

Oh, my!!

No offense intended, my man—just thought it was humorous the way you broke it down as you did.

Here we go again....

Hush, butt-goonie!! We have enough problems with the economy without you showing up to drum up that issue again!

Which would make that 100% due to written word.

In case you've missed some of our "thats not what it says..." arguments. :D

How does that saying go? Oh yeah...

Here's where I give WotC the benefit of the doubt and believe that the lack of info will be filled in on NPC's such as Elminster and other popular ones with novels by said NPC creators. As far as the spellplague and Cyric murder of Mystra (shrugs) your gentleperson's guess is as good as mine.

Well, the thread is titled "Bad need of an update." Only fair that the populace be alerted to the fact that justice has been served.

Anyway, as been hinted at, The Simbul may be the vegetable under El's care, rather than the other way around.

...In truth, the Powerful mage (Simbul) did survive the conflagration and now resides in the Dalelands.

There is nothing stating she is not.

That's the point.

Until another "official" FR release comes out, she is "reportedly" with El'.

-Right, but nothing actually says that she is. I know, I agree with you, that she is, but nothing says that she is. Of course, like you said, nothing actually says that she is, but I am inclined to think, separating how I would like to see things, as opposed to what is actually presented, that if she was indeed with him, something would have said as much.

Divide it as needed. You just said yourself that there is no known fact contradicting what was stated.

As such, we must assume what we see in the FRCG is more accurate.

And, as The Simbul up and disappeared from Aglarond, then got "reported" in said place, we must assume twice.

-Where she is, if someone wants to know specifically where she is. That's like telling someone that if they want to come visit me, I'm in New York.

...We know where, in general... She's a fictional character, she 'could' be anywhere we want.

We might see a novel with her around, but really, this set up is best. We know enough w/o knowing too much.
