| #1cmarcoSep 04, 2008 0:25:50 | Hey y'all! So, since 4e hit, I've been wondering what the characters from Baldur's Gate, BG II, and Throne of Bhaal would look like under the 4e rules. Any thoughts? |
| #2fenrir7139Sep 04, 2008 0:39:46 | Hmmm... Well, I never really played any edition before 4th, though I have read the 3E Rulebooks, but I'd definitly say Imoen is a Trickster Rogue, Multiclassed into Wizard in BG II. I think Jaheira would probably be either an Avenging Paladin, a Twin-Blade Ranger, or a straight-up Fighter, or, possibly, a Cleric/Ranger. Khalid would probably be a Guardian Fighter, or maybe a Tactical Warlord. Minsc would definitly be a Great Weapon Fighter; Ranger doesn't really fit well with him anymore, although, personally, I think his background suited a Fighter better in BG, or a Barbarian in BG II. And, as for Dynaheir, I'd say a Wizard, of Either type (leaning towards War Wizard) or a Fey-Pact Warlock. Now that I've posted the "Canon" Party Members, I'll start thinking up the rest... |
| #3cmarcoSep 04, 2008 1:13:46 | I am sure that many of the characters from the Baldur's Gate series will become easier to recreate with the release of PHB2. That said, I'm sure that Minsc is probably a barbarian multiclassed with ranger, and that Jaheira is a druid who multiclassed with fighter. The great part about 4e is that in the case of villains like Sarevok, Jon Irenicus, and Melissan, you can recreate their abilities... they are monsters/NPCs anyway. I think I'll take a stab at recreating Sarevok and Irenicus, and post them here later. |
| #4ArmisaelSep 04, 2008 7:04:45 | The real question is, how would you do Haer'Dalis? He's probably the most unusual combination in the games, and while making him a swordmage would be close, it doesn't quite fit. If we can do that one, we can do all of the others. |
| #5narackSep 04, 2008 7:17:14 | this question would get better answer in the Forgotten Realms forum section since baldur's gate is in forgotten realms city |
| #6Joseph_SilverSep 04, 2008 14:47:27 | Haer'Dalis would be an unaligned tiefling bard in 4E. What's so difficult about that? |
| #7Mist-BoundSep 04, 2008 18:29:46 | Been a while since I've played this game (that my copies of the series were accidentally taken to another house and haven't been returned yet) hasn't helped, but off the top of my head... Korgan Bloodaxe would be an Dwarf Fighter or maybe an axe-wielding TWF Ranger Viconia De'Vir would be a Drow Cleric of Shar Mazzy Fenton would be a Halfling Paladin Valygar would be a Human Archery Ranger Aerie would be an Elf Cleric/Wizard multiclass or maybe a Cleric/Feylock multiclass I think I actually started a topic to try and create Bhaalspawn Paragon Path- never really got completed, I think. |
| #8lord_karsusSep 04, 2008 20:17:28 | -This belongs in the Running the Realms section. I'll have it moved there. |
| #9derren_s.Sep 06, 2008 12:28:06 | Haer'Dalis would be an unaligned tiefling bard in 4E. What's so difficult about that? No bard in 4E. |
| #10lord_karsusSep 06, 2008 12:31:19 | -Not for a few more months, anyway. |
| #11rinonalyrna_fathomlinSep 06, 2008 19:28:44 | Yes, the bard should be in the PHBII.![]() |
| #12fenrir7139Sep 08, 2008 1:02:21 | Yes, the bard should be in the PHBII. I've always figured that, since the bard wasn't included in the first Player's Handbook, a Trickster Rogue would probably work best flavor-wise. |

I haven't heard those names in forever! I can barely remember which was which, but it's fun trying. Wasn't Minsc a barbarian? |
| #14cmarcoSep 08, 2008 2:41:36 | Wow!! I haven't heard those names in forever! I can barely remember which was which, but it's fun trying. Wasn't Minsc a barbarian? Minsc is a ranger in the game. He did, however, possess the ability to go into a berserker frenzy. I would say that under the new rules, he's most likely a barbarian (well, I'll make up my mind on that when the barbarian class premiers in Dragon magazine later this month). |
| #15lord_karsusSep 08, 2008 9:58:26 | -I've always been in favor of feats that mimic class abilities, but in a lesser form. That way, say, a Ranger can take the "Rage" feat, and be able to go into a lesser version of the Barbarian Rage, or so a Sorcerer can take the "Sneak Attack" feat, and be able to perform a lesser version of the Rogue Sneak Attack. |
| #16rauricSep 08, 2008 14:33:15 | -Not for a few more months, anyway. True, though I think Goodman games is releasing a book with the "lost core classes" like barbarian, bard ect. There will be no WOTC version of this class until PH2 though or perhaps in a DDI article before then. |

| #18rauricSep 09, 2008 7:35:15 | -Being as that's another company, anything they do isn't official, as in it can impact the WotC settings/official games/etc. I just was giving some info out there for people that missed their favored class and needed a "fix" until the official WOTC version was released. A year will go pretty quick for most of us but for those that need to play a barbarian or druid the idea that there will be a product that offers the chance is pretty nice. :D Anyway if you do not want to "fudge" certain classes and want something that works like a druid, bard or barbarian the Goodman Games product may help people that are doing 3.5 conversions. ;) |
