I was wondering if anyone could point me to information regarding the legendary city of Baldur's Gate that goes beyond the meager scope of both the campaign and player's guides?  Any recent articles?  Even a map or two would be appreciated.

I think Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast describes it. Can't really remember. That's from an older edition, though. If you're strictly looking for 4E sources, you're out of luck. No articles, no map (to my knowledge). The LFR group for Baldur's Gate is your best bet for new information. They might be able to help you out, but I don't know how easy it is to obtain said information from LFR.

Thanks for the help, folks.  I'll try to get a hold of those guides mentioned.  My memory of the city is based on playing the PC games way back when, so...

My first Forgotten Realms source book from 1990, TSR2106 Forgotten Realms Adventures, has a map and information over Baldur's Gate among a lot of other cities in the Heartlands anno 1359 DR. I would suppose most of the old city walls still stands, since the city was untouched by the Spellplague, but the city would be more crowded with sprawls outside it's gates. If you can find the book in a used book store or the like, I would say that it still is a good buy. Besides having great artwork, you will find information that still applies in 4e like information about gems, coins and other treasure found in Faerûn, and some information on human names and titles.
