I am confused by the plotline of the "Murder in Baldur's Gate" adventure.

The plotline involves the rebirth of the god of Murder.

Wasn't this resolved when it was revealed that Xvim was the reborn god of murder?

No, you are confusing Bhaal with Bane. Iyachtu Xvim was the pupua-state of the slain-but-reborn Bane who hatched just in time for the 3e Realms.

Ties back to the Baulder's Gate PC game line. Bhaal and his spawn are out there.
