| #1garciansmithApr 09, 2009 22:33:21 | My latest campaign or popular one is a romp that started in Luskan and has taken to the high seas of the Sword Coast enroute to Baldurs Gate with a vicious bullywug in pursuit the only problem is I've misplaced my info on Baldurs Gate and I can't remember rightly as I suffer from the Henry Jones Sr. syndrome of "I wrote it in my diary so I would'nt have to remember." That being said I need info on Baldurs gate time period 1380 or close enough. Any help would be appreciated. 3.5 ed. |
| #2faraerApr 11, 2009 0:35:11 | The most substantial source on Baldur's Gate is Volo’s Guide to the Sword Coast, no longer available as a legal download. |
| #3StiggerApr 11, 2009 3:26:33 | Forgotten Realms Adventures had a decent synopsis of it as well, but that was pretty much a condensed version of what was in the Volo's Guide. Both are for 2e, and if you don't already have them as pdf's, you're pretty much screwed for the moment, until WotC releases them again anyway. |
| #4garciansmithApr 11, 2009 18:18:53 | Alright thanks for the info Ill start the hunt for them immediately. |
| #5zananApr 13, 2009 3:14:28 | I'd also suggest Lands of Intrigue, which AFAIK also covers Amn. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads |
| #6lord_karsusApr 13, 2009 23:29:38 | -The Baldur's Gate book, so I hear, weren't that illuminating about anything. |
| #7StiggerApr 14, 2009 1:02:31 | The novels? Heard those were garbage myself... canon, but still garbage. Oh, and avoid 2e's Volo's Guide to Baldur's Gate II unless you're looking for information about Amn and Tethyr, because there isn't much of anything about the "City of..." in there that I remember. |
| #8garciansmithApr 14, 2009 13:15:13 | Whoa so looks like I'm back at square one then. Well damn I guess it's the thought that counts. Thanks anyways one and all. In that case original post still stands any help appreciated but I'll download the other stuff anyways who knows right? |
| #9lord_karsusApr 14, 2009 13:26:17 | -The timeline technically never went to 1,380 DR, since things jumped from 1,375 DR to 1,479 DR, with a brief interlude in which we saw what happened from 1,376 DR to 1,385 DR. Any info that is out there is going to be pre-1,380 DR anyway. |
| #10garciansmithApr 14, 2009 13:35:35 | No what I meant was the campaign setting was 1380 can't remember the year name. But I just meant what ever was the most current and I would adapt it. Sorry for the misconception. So any info is appreciated. |
| #11StiggerApr 14, 2009 14:34:21 | Not back at square one at all... Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast is an excellent source, Forgotten Realms Adventures is pretty good with several new snippets and has the advantage of a great map of the city, and Lands of Intrigue covers the area to the immediate south of the city. If you intend to trek into Amn and Tethyr, even Volo's Guide to Baldur's Gate II could come in handy, and builds nicely upon the stuff in Lands of Intrigue. |
