| #1suin_bahhar_02May 18, 2009 13:57:40 | Who is Blackwillow? I saw some reference to him in Faiths and Pantheons, he's some pontiff like figure in the church of Cyric I presume? How large would the church he controls in Tethyr around 1375 DR be, and how much power would he have in the politics of that region? |
| #2lord_karsusMay 18, 2009 16:58:49 | -Blackwill, not Blackwillow. It's a title. His full name is: Blackwill Haarken Akhmerlere. The Church of Cyric is not centralized, and does not have one ruler above all others. This individual is the high priest of the Twin Towers of Eternal Eclipse. He was working with the Sythillisian Ogre Magi to gain a stranglehold over trade in Murann on the Trade Way. Given that two other rival sects existed in the area (Tynnos Argrim's faction and Dag Zoreth's faction) -Given what happened at the Twin Towers of Eternal Eclipse in the Erevis Cale trilogy, I don't know if he's alive any more. It's been a while since I read those books, and I don't recall any specific names, but the Sojourner trashed things pretty handily and thoroughly. |

Given that two other rival sects existed in the area (Tynnos Argrim's faction and Dag Zoreth's faction) aGHotR has a bit of lore about it. 1373 Uktar 13: Blackwill Haarken Akhmelere, using the ancient Calishite artifact known as the Golden Lamp of Samesaj, repairs the eastern tower and rebuilds the western tower of the Twin Towers of the Eclipse, thereby erasing any evidence of the affront to Cyric caused by the actions of Iryklathagra during the Rage of Dragons and the mysterious being known as the Sojourner. As far as I know that was the only bit regarding him. |
| #4lord_karsusMay 18, 2009 20:12:06 | -Then, he still is alive. |
| #5suin_bahhar_02May 19, 2009 13:57:44 | And has duked it out with Drasek Riven? There is a nice story in that one! Show The newly ascended demigod |
| #6lord_karsusMay 19, 2009 14:59:41 | -The two have never met. The Sojourner teleported the missing tower to it's current location, not Cale or Riven. They didn't come in to play until after the Sojourner was dead, with Cale "claiming" the tower as "his" (Mask's). The fact that, using the Lamp of Samesaj, everything was completely fixed, to the point that is was like it never happened, I don't think that the priest is going to start looking for trouble- especially with his faithful so utterly decimated by the Sojourner's assault, and the continued fallout concerning the return of Bane, and the conquest of Amn by the Ogre Magi. |
| #7suin_bahhar_02May 19, 2009 15:32:51 | Any stats on Blackwillow? Need to bump that Green Giants npc thread... |
| #8lord_karsusMay 19, 2009 17:00:10 | -Nope, nothing official. Because of his position, he is obviously a Cleric, and probably somewhere in the 10-20 Level range, 3e and 4e. |
| #9tyrantbaneMay 19, 2009 23:20:14 | He was actually stated in Lords of Darkness (3rd) has a 13th level cleric. P. 17. |
| #10MirtekMay 23, 2009 13:56:01 | And has duked it out with Drasek Riven? There is a nice story in that one! |
| #11lord_karsusMay 26, 2009 10:29:45 | I don't think the other deities would look kindly upon a demigod running around the material world slaying mortals. They would have to put Riven down as a matter of principle. -If the entity had a reason (in which in this case, there is none), I wouldn't see a problem with such a thing. |
| #12suin_bahhar_02May 26, 2009 10:52:16 | It's notoriously difficult to track down a Chosen of Mask. But if Blackwill wanted to hurt Riven he might blackmail his location in the Tower to some agent of Mephistopheles. Not sure how a devil might deal with an archdecon of Cyric, but Blackwill could definately strike the favor of his patron if he could get that Tower back from Riven. |
| #13lord_karsusMay 26, 2009 10:55:47 | -That he was able to live (as in, Cyric not punishing him) through the ordeal, and then fix things such that it's like nothing even ever happened, reeks of...I don't know what to call it. "Right hand not knowing what the left is doing-itis", maybe. It reads to me as in, "Oops. We need the towers to be like this, for [a reason]. These books changed things. Alright, let's just make everything back to normal, and it's all good." |
