I think it's odd to suggest that, for example, tabletop game NPCs are somehow "richer" than videogame NPCs.  I understand the idea, that a live DM could potentially insert a lot of personality into a party of goblins, but MMOs often have a great deal of scripted personality in their NPCs - particularly bosses.  So they're scripted, it's not all that different from a written module one might buy.  And yes, a DM could add personality to all the minor NPCs, I've seen it done by very entertaining DMs.  But in most games the DM generally doesn't, and that's okay too; they save acting/personality for recurring villains and helpful townsfolk. Other DMs cater to players who prefer low rolwplaying.  Which is all fine, either way, as long as the gamers are having fun. And no offense... but this had very little (nothing?) to do with the Forgotten Realms.  Maybe you should go to General D&D if you want commentary from a broader audience?
#6 stormbirdd Sep 15, 2010 15:33:18	My original idea was that two of the three blogs so far were specific to races and concepts on Faerun and would not perhaps exist in Dark Sun or other universes touched upon by D&D. These "obvious problems", as I call them, are common only to traditional world like Faerun. However, I think you are right and that posting to Forgotten Realms forum without specifically talking about Faerun is a mistake. I will create these posts elsewhere. Betcha' can't wait. - Verdre
