Bringing back dead gods. Advice needed!

I have an idea for a story arc for a Faerun campaign I want to run with a couple of people and was wondering what people thought would be the 'best' character concept.

First let me state I am very hesitant to make a "DMPC" as I have had some experience with them and it wasn't all that fun. The last thing I want to do is over shadow the PCs with something of my own. But the with the few people we have for the game I think it might be needed, and it can prove to be an interesting hook (or at least I think), especially with an eladrin avenger and an elf ranger currently in the party. (it would also let me try those elf+drow+eladrin set items from AV2 in game!)

Also it should be noted that I do plan on putting limitations on what the character can do (like only being able to spend one healing surge an encounter)

Anyway, my idea is the party is sent on a mission from Corellon and the Seldarine to find a way to bring back his daughter Eilistraee. This leads me to ask: what would best represent Eilistraee character fluff wise? I am thinking of giving the hybrid character rules a shot with this and was thinking [bard | cleric] or [bard | avenger] or [cleric | avenger]. Right now I am leaning twoards more of the avenger aspects as it seems to feel more 'right' for the character (graceful and accurate instead of brute power) if I do take the avenger | x route she'd probably pick up the armor of the faith feat and later improved armor of faith, and stick to cloth armor just to be more fluff-like, and of course have a bastard sword. Alternatively I could go [swordmage | bard] or something along that line.

(side note: reposting this from the 4e character development forum, as suggested. Admins if you could delete that post.)

I would go with Ranger/Avenger, or maybe Ranger/Cleric, but i could definatly see the Swordmage workin out too. I think Elistraee is the second most brought back to life deity in FR home games, right after Mystra. I was thinking of making a thread on here devoted to giving dead or "lost" gods domains and channel divinity feats. So my big question would be what domains would Elistraee have? I wouldnt count her as an Exarch, so probably a lesser goddess so she would have 2 domains, obviously one of them would be Moon, but what about the other one? maybe War? or Wilderness?

You should see the rules for companion characters in the DMG2. This will perfectly solve your problem and the rules are nicely balanced.

Yes Domains, Not portfolios.

War is a bit of a stretch but she was big on swordplay, and the closest i could think of to that is war.

Well even if she is dead, they do give worshiping dead gods a green light in the Divine Power book so i think it would be handy to know what the dead gods domains would be, for what ever reason, whether it be your worshiping a dead god or the gods not really dead or house ruled back to life or what have you. Sounds like a good idea for a new thread on dead gods in general.
