Building a home for an Elf

Mar 12, 2010 14:23:11 Hello...I'm playing an elven character who has only one goal: Getting enough money to build a traditional elven house. And here is my problem, I once heard/read (can't really remember) that elven homes are build around or on top of trees...or at least in a way that gives them a most natural appearance. And if they do so...which type of trees do they use? Are there preferrences from people to people or even from community to community?

I would be grateful if you could enlighten me.

Mar 12, 2010 14:36:33 Depends on what type of Elf really. Wood elves typicaly had homes built in or around trees. As for tree type, probably what ever trees present in the forest, probably varies alot from place to place. Blueleaf would be a good one to use.
Its really up to you, Elves are a magical race so something like a crystal tower would fit as well.

Mar 12, 2010 14:46:35 Thank you...My Elf is part Moonelf and part Sunelf. I want him to live in a tree house because it fits best in the campaign setting. I will have to check if Blueleaf is available ^^

I plan to have my elf to end up with a house that is a mixture of a grown tree, magically wrapped in a way to circle a crystaline tower.

sorta like the elven city in lotr two towers...

Mar 19, 2010 12:25:29 Blueleaf, Zalantar, Weirwood, Shadowtop and Suth trees (3.0 FRCS) all have their uses in building treehouses. blueleaf is both durable and common in the northern parts of Fearun. Suth trees make perfect hedges and walllike structures. Weirwood is rare but nearly impervious to fire and very strong. Shadowtop is best used for more flexible parts of a treehouse and the ladders and ropes needed to go to and from it. Zalantar is best used in durable parts of the house, but its availability is mostly limited to the southern regions of Fearun.

But the most important part in building a durable treehouse is the use of the druid spells woodshape, warp wood and ironwood (PHB). These three spells allow for a nearly limitless amount of forms to be used in the building of the treehouse structure, while maintaining and or enhancing all the properties of the types of wood used.

Combine your tree abode with some arcane spells like continual light in the evenings, an unseen servant triggered by morning sunlight, and some minor mending spells each week and enjoy the comforts of living in an elevated arboreal home. I recommend at least one skillpoint in use rope, climb and craft (wood working) if you live without any woodshaping npc's nearby.
