| #1drizztsmanchildDec 08, 2008 22:06:27 | Any info on these characters in 4e? |
| #2lord_karsusDec 08, 2008 22:10:16 | -None of 'em, no. -Caledan, he was a Human, so he's likely dead in 1,479 DR. -Arilyn is a Half-Elf, in theory, she could be alive in 1,479 DR. -Danillo, another Human, sadly. So, he might be dead. He might be alive though. Him being possibly still linked with Arilyn and her Moonblade. |
| #3erevis_cale_dupDec 08, 2008 22:32:15 | ![]() ;) |
| #4drizztsmanchildDec 08, 2008 22:42:05 | But wasn't Caledaan involved in shadow magic? Do you think that there will be novels concerning the Npcs like these since they were alive pre 4e |
| #5lord_karsusDec 08, 2008 23:31:14 | But wasn't Caledaan involved in shadow magic? Do you think that there will be novels concerning the Npcs like these since they were alive pre 4e -Doubtful on all three. Elaine's last book, Reclamation was supposed to be out last April, but it was canceled. Concerning Caledan, his story, as far as I think, was told in full, and- especially with that author not associated with WotC in a long time, it's highly unlikely to see the character again. |
| #6drizztsmanchildDec 09, 2008 0:22:20 | What did "Reclaimation" deal with? |
| #7lord_karsusDec 09, 2008 0:38:38 | What did "Reclaimation" deal with? -It was supposed to be the last book in Elaine's series. Presumably, it would have ended the tale of Danillo, Arilyn, possibly Elaith, Bronwyn, and other characters featured in so many of her novels and short stories. The book was yanked off of the production table because Elaine felt, for whatever the reason, that she could not find her muse to properly write the last book. In a way, I can see why. Chinese Democracy, Guns n Roses' new CD was in the making for, like 14 years. Even if it was good (and I don't think is was), it never would have lived up to the hype. |
| #8drizztsmanchildDec 09, 2008 0:55:45 | Gotcha. |
| #9old_sageDec 09, 2008 6:31:34 | Elaine explained her reasoning behind the cancellation of Reclamation over at Candlekeep. |
| #10erevis_cale_dupDec 09, 2008 9:05:29 | But wasn't Caledaan involved in shadow magic? Do you think that there will be novels concerning the Npcs like these since they were alive pre 4e WotC want all previous NPC's killt dead. Unless its a dual scimitar wielding dark and empty elf! ![]() ;) |
| #11sfdragonDec 09, 2008 14:42:29 | man go pull the legs off a spider with that comment. all previous npcs are dead, unless that npc is an elf, young dwarf, halfling or half elf at the time. well okay whats her name from darkvision is still alive, but she is ancient edit: dont take the pull the legs of a spider comment seriously, i just want to get in a realms curse too... |
| #12msatranDec 09, 2008 16:57:05 | If only we could pull the legs off the 4e Realms Design team. |
| #13erevis_cale_dupDec 09, 2008 17:23:57 | Now, now Behave. Show Dark and Empty |
| #14dark_and_empty_dupDec 09, 2008 17:33:47 | Wow that is pretty ruff. :P |
| #15lord_karsusDec 09, 2008 17:44:51 | -Dark and empty...![]() |
| #16The_Simbul_of_AglarondDec 09, 2008 20:19:28 | The ambiguity of 4E FR enables any character to still be around if the DM has a use for them and half of an imagination...even those who actually are unequivocally noted as being "dead" in the lore can be brought back, for even the campaign guide and novels are rarely presented as omniscient narration, but rather through the fallible perspective of a given character. |
| #17lord_karsusDec 09, 2008 20:34:15 | -Okay, when it's somewhat relevant and funny is one thing, but let's not spam up the place here. |
| #18drizztsmanchildDec 09, 2008 21:52:00 | I think that Mr. Cale meant to say that Wotc wants to kill off all npcs who aren't making $. Besides killing a character off isn't so bad. Look what it's done for Superman, Jason, Freddy. All more popular than ever. Lol |
| #19green_elven_vampireDec 09, 2008 21:57:44 | If Arilyn is dead then her child would most likely inherit the Moonblade and the story would then continue, and Arilyn would be inside the Moonblade. |
| #20drizztsmanchildDec 09, 2008 22:08:43 | If she had a child? Did she? |
| #21lord_karsusDec 09, 2008 23:21:26 | If Arilyn is dead then her child would most likely inherit the Moonblade and the story would then continue, and Arilyn would be inside the Moonblade. -It would, in all likelihood, go to Lamruil, her uncle and closest Elven relative. If she had a child? Did she? -Not that we know of, no. |
| #22green_elven_vampireDec 10, 2008 0:14:13 | -It would, in all likelihood, go to Lamruil, her uncle and closest Elven relative. Yes, her and Danilo had a child as is mentioned in the novel City of Splendors, and also in the short story by Elaine in the "Best of the realms: stories of Elaine Cunningham." Elaith and Arilyn are sparring together after she gave birth and she a bit awkward from not fighting in so long, and Elaith bests her in almost every move. Good story. |
| #23lord_karsusDec 10, 2008 0:16:27 | -I, not once, recall seeing this. Elaith has a daughter, who was trained/will be trained (somewhat) by Arilyn, as per a deal with her and Elaith, but that's not her biological kid. |
| #24green_elven_vampireDec 10, 2008 1:27:40 | Sorry, my bad.... it's in the story Redemption |
| #25drizztsmanchildDec 10, 2008 1:46:23 | Question Is the sparring session your referring to happen in danilos garden before Ferret comes and asks for Elaith? |
| #26green_elven_vampireDec 10, 2008 1:51:50 | Question Yes, that' the one.... it mentions that Arilyn is not as quick as she was before the birth of her child. |
| #27drizztsmanchildDec 10, 2008 2:07:07 | Actually I just read an excerpt online from that short story detailing that battle and after the sparring session Danilo is speaking with Elaith and mentioning that Arylin was still weak from her attempt to strike Elaith to prove to Ferret and the others elves with her that Elaith still had some noblity/innocence left in him. As the moonblade will not let the attacker strike an innocent or noble hearted soul. And will give the attacker a lethal shock almost fatal in Arylins case Here is the link www.elainecunningham.com/redemption_excerpt.htm Read the conversation between Elaith and Danilo before Ferret shows up. |
| #28green_elven_vampireDec 10, 2008 2:59:31 | I also remember reading somewhere that Arilyn and Danilo moved to Silverymoon to raise their child!! |
| #29drizztsmanchildDec 10, 2008 3:04:42 | Not doubting the prospect of them having a child. I haven't read all her stories so it could be true. Ill do more googling to see if I can find where is posted |
| #30rinonalyrna_fathomlinDec 10, 2008 12:52:09 | I also remember reading somewhere that Arilyn and Danilo moved to Silverymoon to raise their child!! You could be misremembering things. It happens. |
| #31stormlordDec 10, 2008 16:53:48 | Khelben's letter in Evermeet, Island of Elves mentions that Danilo and Arilyn have relocated to Silverymoon for just a season. But I do not recall seeing any mention of a child with them. I am just going from memory and my, indeed, be wrong so feel free to correct my statements if someone should have their book close at hand. |
| #32hvulpesDec 10, 2008 19:16:48 | Khelben's letter in Evermeet, Island of Elves mentions that Danilo and Arilyn have relocated to Silverymoon for just a season. It was mention of a 'little one' in the book... One Elaine said was not a child as it might seem. Or so I remember... |
| #33ZireaelDec 11, 2008 9:30:23 | I don't see any mention of a child in the sample chapter. But it's not a bad idea...![]() ![]() |
| #34rinonalyrna_fathomlinDec 11, 2008 10:14:42 | It was mention of a 'little one' in the book... One Elaine said was not a child as it might seem. Or so I remember... I remember the same thing. The "little one" wasn't Arilyn and Danilo's child. |
