| #1fragsieNov 20, 2008 10:04:24 | This is the campaign that i am currently running, when it started all of my players were all newbies to RPGs. It was started before the release of 4th Ed. But when the new Forgotten Realms books were released it was reletively easy to fit my ideas into the history of the spell plague and the causes of the events during the 100 year gap. We started with 3 players, and i wanted them all to be elves (which they didn't mind at all), and all from the High Forest in the Silver Marches, starting at level 2. Beggining characters Adria Moonwhisper - Cleric 1 / Druid 1 Moon Elf follower of Silvanus, a somewhat playful young woman (116 years old), well known in the treetop villages as someone who always brings a smile with her when she visits to attend the shrines. She is well respected by the centaurs who remember her father in song; a pious elf warrior who went away on a quest when she was just 16, she has been told by many elders that he gave his life to save the world. When she recieved a personal summons to the Grandfather Tree, she immediately assumed that it had something to do with her father. Silmarellon (Sil) - Monk 1 / Rogue 1 Wild Elf. A member of an elf monastic order called the Flaming Fist (that teaches the ways of stealth and trickery as well as martial arts). He had a somewhat secluded life, being braught up as an orphan in the order's monastary in the Nether Mountains to the north of the High Forest. When the Keepers of the Grandfather Tree asked for the order to send a capable warrior for an important quest Sil was surprised that he was chosen; he had been playing practical jokes and stunts on the other students and masters alike for many years (but then again, perhaps they were just trying to get rid of him!). Ereinion Selimaure (Erin) - Duskblade 2 Sun Elf. Cousin of Adria, Erin is a couple fo decades older than her and had began his warrior training under the tutalege of her father before he had left. A solem individual that keeps his thoughts to himself, but is always taking everything in. He is a determined person and likes to think of himself as honourable. He has always been somewhat protective of his cousin Adria whom he swore an oath to watch over when her father died. He accompanied Adria when she was summoned to the Grandfather Tree. |
| #2fragsieNov 20, 2008 10:21:30 | SecomberWhen the group find Mistress jade, They discover her in a panic because her daughter has been missing for 3 days, when she was last seen she was going into the woods to the west of town to practice her hunting skills. The party explore the town a bit, and after a few chats with various people around the town they learn of a mysterious floating staircase that leads up to a castle at the top of a bluff toward the west, recently there has been more bandit activety than usual in that area. They set off to investigate and find the staircase; exploring the castle at it's top, they fight off a number of bandits before interrupting a devious wizard in the midst of a ritual that involves the sacrifice of Mistress Jade's daughter and will summon some big evil demon. Upon the return of the half-elf maiden to her mother she will offer them a number of clues, the first is a painting of the Life Tree, that is immensly realistic, perhaps the artist has seen it for him/herself, the painting is signed by a B. Shadowlight. The second is the book that the party were told of; though before showing it to them, Mistress Jade insists that they join her for a dinner party. During which a number of murders occur and the party are asked to help discover the killer. I will go into this more later on as i cant find my notes at the minute, but the general gist is that the butler did it under the direction of his twin brother who had left the town some 25 years ago, but then double crossed him (dressing him as the butler after killing him), and ran off eastward. It is only later on when the party eventually get to see the book, that they realise it has been stolen and replaced with a fake. The next day they leave Secomber heading east upon some fine steed given to them by Mistress Jade. Upon the way another character (and player) joins the Group: Elliel - Female Sorcerer 3 Human. A wanderer who travels to increase her knowledge and power, she was exiled by the village where she had grown up after her powers had manifest and in the process a year's havested crop had burnt to the ground. They manage to track down the escaped butler and enter a dungeon, at the end of which they find the missing book, and have a second encounter woth the Herald, who gives them their last chance to join him. Elliel, not knowing much of the quest that the group are on, seriously considers it for a while, but then declines. The Book of Origins A large white leather-bound tome guilted in mythrall and gold, pressed into the front is the stylised image of a silver tree with copper leaves. the contents are written in an ancient elven dialect (DC18 decioher script if you speak elven. You can get a +4 bonus to the decipher script check if you first pass a DC15 History check) The Prophesy within the Book is a prophesy, which tells of the return of the Herald, it is two pages long, but the second page has been tporn out, by the look of the tear, many years ago. Four shall leave the offsprings shelter; The hero's son and last Scion of his name, The Sword of honour that stone will inter, The Fierce Hammer whom death shall claim, And the Red Fist who wed, will ancient magicks stir. Three will save the emerald maiden in cloudy sky, Earning the watchful gaze of the Raven. If they go beneath the earth, and Dark Ones they defy, The Star of Elindil shall give them Haven, In the emerald mother they may find an ally, And a path in the wake of a craven. Upon the road, the fifth they shall find, Who carries the blood of Dragonkind. Across the yellow sea they must sail, If they are to free the third from icy jail. Before the third can be restored, Rest must come to a servant of the rider. A painful task that will be abhorred, But accomplished by the Dragonine outsider. With bloodied hands, a green elf they meet, Who follows masters two. He shall raise the third; make the circle complete, And knowledge of the key imbue. As they fruitless seek the Raven elysian, A sinister plot they fall afoul. They will wake in a hall labyrinthian, Great pain and death on the prowl, Unless one devotes to the goddess avian. The Scion shall falter at the feet of his sire, And the balance of life shall rest upon his back. A starless night shall cover the world entire, And the vile armies will hail the rider black. Lest the Lords achieve their murderous desire, The Honourable Sword must give the final offering. To take the key; be consumed by the astral fire, In creations light; halt the army marching, And save his friends from their fates dire. |
