In about two weeks I'm supposed to be starting a Forgotten Realms campaign (4e version of the setting) for my group; however, I can't seem to figure out what I'm going to do for a plot. I'm pretty sure I want to place it in Luruar because I like the mix of races, and I also think the the Tower of the Tree Slaker would make a good side adventure. But I don't really like Netheril, and I'm having problems coming up with the plot.
Thoughts?

I am also starting a campaign in the North/ silver marches area,i am not using the 4th edition(i am old school i use the 2nd with alittle 3rd mixed in) so i am not sure this would work for you,but i am useing the plot of the pcs haveing to guard caravans and such to the town/city of Nesme to start things off then that is going to lead to them searching some of the old dwarven settlements in the area and doing some monster bounty hutning with them finding out a certain plot in the works by the Cult of the Dragon along with some of the worshipers and dark rangers of Auril .That is all i have for right now so i have much time to add in some other things and fine tune them.So that is what i am up too, feel free to use some these ideas or if you hear or come up with something else that sounds good please drop me a line, this is my first time out being a DM so i need all the help i can get.

The "Loudwater" campaign in the FRCS is an enjoyable romp for the first few levels. It's easy to expand on with the Menace of the Icy Tower and the Scepter Tower of Spellguard, not to mention an easy conversion of the Treasure of Talon Pass.

I think that's levels 1-5 right there.

I'm getting ready for a campaign in the same area. The over-arching goal of the campaign is to unite the goodly communities of the North,i.e. Waterdeep, Luruar, etc.

Besides the usual threats of monsters and evil power groups, there are many within these communities that don't wish to see them united. There will be plenty of political haranguing and intrigue mixed in as well.

It's a lofty goal that may never come to fruition, but it gives me a good basis from which I can pull more ideas.

I plan on working some of the published Gray Vale stuff in as well.

You can also use the Fallcrest adventure out of the DMG - I've taken the liberty of placing it in the Silver Marches region as per Rich Baker's suggestion.

Trolls in the Evermoors. Orcs in the High Forest. Werewolves or Shifters in the Moonwood.
