Caravan worker and pay

Nov 22, 2008 23:19:10 Just working with one of my players and he wants to get work with a caravan travelling from Silverymoon to Waterdeep. He is a 1st level mage and won't be considered a guard, but someone who helps with the horses and meals etc. Just wondering if anyone knows some kind of title for that job and how much it would pay a day as compared to a caravan guard? Thanks.

Nov 23, 2008 0:37:24 If he is not expected to defend the caravan, I would say 10s a day. Adjust for his special skills, and expected danger. He also should get free rations and an inn room/camp. Most inns are about a days travel.

When I have my players guard a caravan, I take one treasure package and then divide it by the amount of time it will take. I may give a bonus for heroic acts, or loss of a friend.

Nov 24, 2008 11:20:15 -I would make the pay fairly minimal, yes. The above suggestions sound good to me. As for the title, sounds like the person would just be something equivalent to a "deck hand".
