#1 aesintyr Dec 19, 2009 12:29:11	so in my prewaking slumbering i thought this could make a fun topic. say you are magically given total control of a movie studio to make any movie you wanted. what FR series/storie would you do? who would you cast? would it be live action animated or cg? oh and just for more fun you can use any actor dead or alive its magic after all ;)
#2 lord_karsus Dec 19, 2009 15:24:04	-Had I the ability to direct a movie, it would: Not conform to an already told story. Why use such a medium to tell a story in the setting to just retell an already told story? On that note, the story would have to have elements of action, politics, history, and (for the Forgotten Realms) contemporary life. I would set it in Cormyr- my rational being that Cormyr is a fairly straight-forward, stereotypical fantasy realm that is easily understood by casual viewers- roughly in 1,371 DR, the Year of the Unstring Harp. Generically, the Eldreth Veluuthra would be the primary antagonistic group, attacking caravan routes traveling to and from Suzail. The protagonists would be a contingent of soldiers from Cormyr assigned to deal with the terrorists. Leaving room for a sequel, and tying it to Realmslore, the actions of the Eldreth Veluuthra would directly tie-in to Kymil Nimesin's assault on Evereska- that is, the cell was aiding in the funding of his imminent attack. Would be hand-drawn animation. It certainly would not be live-action because, there is only so much that special effects and costumes can do. While the Lord of the Rings movies were good, experience seems to dictate that by-and-large, there are a lot of corny Science Fiction/Fantasy movies out there, that are corny because of poor visuals, be them costumes, special effects, casting, etc. Animation allows you to do things that just can't be done via live action. Likewise, it would not be computer animation, because technology comes with limits as well. Being a hand-drawn animated feature, casting for voice actors would not necessarily target any specific famous people known for their acting.

Heroes. Already shown us what its like when a mortal gets godlike power—and aptly.)   Elminster: Sean Connery (He’s the only old guy on the planet that can get as much **** as El’.)   Mystra: Susan Lucci (Still hot after all these years, but only got an Emmy through pity. Forever doomed to fall short of her promise.)   Bane: Jason Statham (Only a guy thats big ass and bad ass enough to have his will completely obeyed.)   Myrkul: Tom Noonan (He may not have played “Death” in The Last Action Hero, but he certainly fit the bill.)   Bhaal: (Again, Jason Statham. On the off chance he couldn’t play both through CGI, I would have Laurence Fishburneplay one or the other role.)   Fzoul: David Wenham (A chance for Captain Faramir to show his quality.) Others on an "As a need to know basis. "

And I agree with LK, It should be an original story. But it should Definitely have Elminster in it. ...And Drizzt! Not sure about who would play Drizzt though.

He asked what series or story—not for you to go James Cameron! -That's another reason why I'd elect to make something original, and animated- I don't know who half of those actors/actresses are, or what roles they'd be good at playing. Nor do I know who James Cameron is. -After going to Wikipedia, though, I see he's a pretty successful director. Terminator, Terminator II, Rambo, Titanic...

Terminator, Terminator II, Rambo, Titanic... Yes. And he is in to "epic" films. Which is why he has spent all his years after Titanic focusing on the creation of his new film AVATAR. Something that is quite original and a bit "animated".

Elves just have certain features- most notably, a different kind of bone structure- that makes it inconvienient, at best. In the past, people have suggested, I don't know his name, the actor who did the Blade movies (Snipes?) as Drizzt. The physical differences just make it a big pain in the ass.

#12 Nai_Calus Dec 22, 2009 0:28:34	Screw movies. Have Elaine Cunningham come back and flesh some stuff out more/extend things in Evermeet: IoE and do an epic miniseries/full TV series of it. Although, yeah, you'd run into the problem of elves not looking all that much like humans. Also you'd never find anyone to play Corellon that I'd be satisfied with.
