#1 suin_bahhar_02 Jan 04, 2009 11:07:12	Is there any creation myth known of the first centaurs. What about driders? Any connections between the way centaurs came to be as a prank of Fey and driders as one of Lolth?
#2 Stigger Jan 04, 2009 11:21:52	As far as I recall, driders were very much Lolth's creations, at least I think it said as much in 2e's Drow of the Underdark. Centaurs... I seem to recall that the son of Ares, Ixion, was their progenitor, though I don't recall the exact circumstances of how... something to do with a simulacrum of Hera maybe. How that relates to D&D though, I have no idea.
#3 suin_bahhar_02 Jan 04, 2009 11:40:34	Nice, never knew Ares had sons. Need to read up on that. Ixion makes a good name for a centaur near Chessenta to invoke. He sounds like a similar being, Ilyssos, a river godling in that region...

#5 markustay63 Jan 04, 2009 15:47:27	Might as well lump Dracons (SJ), Tlincallis (Scorpionmen), Manotaurs (a Minotaur-like Centaur with a bull's body instead of that of a horse), and FR's own Wemics. BTW, Mongol-like Centaurs are native to the Hordelands, and Arabian-style Centaurs to Zakhara - both canon. Although I think the Arabian-Centaurs should have been camel-like, but that would have given us a race that looked a lot like the cigarette-smoking dudes in the Camel ads. :D Picture THAT face on a Cameltaur. :P Then again, that probably would be a really cool race for D&D. Anyhow, the Dracons (SJ) spent a lot of their time exploring Arcane Space, looking for other Tauric races, in a strange sort of archaelogical/anthropological search for their past.

#12 lord_karsus Jan 05, 2009 10:42:39	-The Tauric Creature template is in Savage Species. I think it may have been reprinted elsewhere, but I'm not sure. With the template, you can make anything a Tauric Creature.
