Yes it does, and different nations have different rules. For instance, I recall reading in some story about Calishites enforcing the rule that once your fingers leave a piece, that counts as your turn, but that other nations (I believe the players discussing this were Cormyreans) do not use this rule. There is also sava, the drow version of chess. I believe there are more pieces per side, and I don't recall reading about certain pieces having to move in certain ways.

As for card games, I know they exist, but I don't recall their specific names at this time. Sorry.

Poker exists as well, although its probably played a little differently in the Realms, as they use Talis (Tarot) cards, instead of what we use. Old Wizard is another popular card game in the Realms, which im assuming is alot like Old Maid.

Draughts (checkers) is also a popular game in the Realms as is Table Dice (Backgammon). D20s are also availible in the Realms, you can get a set of gaming dice and a dice cup for a mere 4 sp.

A good chess set will run you about 20 gp, The Horde set goes for 25. These can all be found in Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue.
