My knowledge of the Realms is very basic, so maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that Chul is very similar to Xen'drik in the sense that they're both the "lost world" parts of their resepective campaign settings. Is this accurate?

Chult.

I don't think Chult has quite the prime spot in the Realms that Xen'drik does in Eberron. That said, Chult is meant to be a "lost world" type of place.

*ahem* Yes, Chult. :embarrass

But thanks for answering my question. It sounds like a great place to set an extended campaign. Here's hoping...

-The most information you'll find on Chult can be found in the Chult 2e sourcebook. Offhand, I didn't think that that one was really that great. But, you can see for yourself, and download it for $4 as a .PDF file from paizo.com, if you want to.

-And, note that Chult will be seeing some major changes in the FRCG. There is a preview article that you can access on the WotC site that explains the changes.

also there is some info in Powers and Pantheons, Serpent Kingdoms, Villains/Heroes Lorebook, Ring of Winter, Vanity's Brood, Master of Chains

I wouldn't say it's the ''lost world'', it's a regular part of Faerun, it had it own ''civilized'' cultures like Mezro, eshowe and tabaxi, wild dwarves, yuan-ti, couatls, batiri, firenewts, pterafolk, Gathgoolgapool, but intead of expanding on that we get nothing and even some parts destroyed

-3E or 4E?

-3E see all of the above.

-4E see the 4E FR handy links in my sig. Go to excerpts: Chult (you do need to be logged in to DDI. It is in pdf format.)

-Hopes this helps.

Swap it out for Xendrik and you should be fine.

Swap-out the rest of the planet, too, while you are at it. :P

You're welcome. And yes, how could a jungle expendition not be exciting?

Um, a TPK due to disease? ;)

But in all seriousness, the idea of hacking through the tropics does have a certain appeal. Just make sure your party's warforged brings a few oil cans. All of that humidity leads to rust.

-D'oh! That'd suck.

-If you're the DM, just don't do it!

I did say exciting--that could mean exciting in a bad way.;)

-I don't know...Dying from a randomly rolled disease doesn't sounds fun and exciting, for either the players or the DM. Though, if the DM was able to think quickly on his/her feet, and introduce some sort of "side quest" to heal the person with the disease...

That is actually something I am planning for my players in a few levels.

The idea of being lost in a hot, muggy forrest, surrounded by nothing but the buzz of unknown insects, and the suffocating foilage has always appealed to me as a top tier challenge for the PC's. Add to that a disease or two, and you have yourself an adventure to remember.

I think your players should be attacked by a large, hungry Chûl.

I don't know what that is, but it is the name of the thread, so we should at least make one up. :P

Or perhaps an insect bite, gives them a bad case of the Chûls? :P

Or, they eat an unknown fruit, and Chûl all over the place.

Then again, they could simply be walking along and BAM...Chûl.

Actually, I was thinking that their could be one tribe that keeps these large insectoid creatures as pets, almost to the point of revering them as 'ancestral spirits'. Each member of the tribe would have their own 'sacred Chûl' that they would have to take care of.

The adventure begins when one morning a certain family wakes up and finds its Chûl-pen torn open, and the creatures gone, and then ask the adventurers for help (they can't go to their fellow tribe-members, because they would be ostracized).

It would be up to the PC's to find The Family Chûls. :D

Well yes, I'd hope that if a disease was introduced, there would be a possibility of a cure.

-Even with a cure, having my character contract an exotic disease just doesn't sound fun. I've never had a character become inflicted with a disease before. The rules for diseases are sort of complicated. I never use 'em, and they were never used on my characters. That might be why I never use 'em.

-That's my 'Super Rock' aspect, yes. One of three.

-But, technically, Shar has it now.
