See the Jungles of Chult adventure module. And some tidbits in Serpent Kingdoms. As well as Lost Empires of Faerûn, Dragons of Faerûn, and Grand History of the Realms. The Vanity's Brood novel, and Jess Lebow's Master of Chains novel also contains a few bits about Chultan society. As does the Ring of Winter "Harpers" series novel.

I like the 4E version of Chult. A nice little Island of Doom.

Sage, I can't believe you forgot to mention Ring of Winter.

3e Chult has some interesting cultures and cities, I'd take that over a generic island with dinosaurs and garbage

But one persons "Garbage" is another persons "Treasure". Think about it.

4E Chult is a lot more savage than 3E Chult. I think I like it more.

Chult was as savage or tame as the DM presented it - do not fault a product or edition with a lack of creative DMing skills.

-I'll be honest...Peninsula, island, doesn't make too much of a difference to me. At least, when it was an peninsula, it didn't have as much pseudo-Africa stuff going on, that it has now, with it being an island and all.

Actually, aside from it being even more cut-off (it was always pretty 'un-reachable' compared to the rest of the Realms), and Mezro going boom, it seems to me its exactly the same.

4e seems to make this bizarre claim that "Strange, savage behemoths now prowl the shadowed jungles and wandering motes alike." - and yet, this is the cover of the 2e product -

I don't know... that sure looks like a behemoth (dinosaur) to me. I wonder why the 4e team tried to trick people into believing they came up with that one?

Oh... and it has Earthmotes... EVERYPLACE has Earthmotes...

Shouldn't they be Torilmotes? Or perhaps Abeirmotes?

-I mean with the mentions that Amn/Tethyr (maybe both? Don't remember) and Calimshan have begun attempting to sail and colonize the island. Too reminiscent of the Age of Imperialism. The emphasis was to get rid of analogues, and yet, the Chultan peninsula was made into a large island, made "more" savage, and we have stories of nations clamoring to colonize her. I thought we had Maztica for that.

See?

Maztica didn't really go away... it just merged with Chult.

Enter Mazchultica! The new, uber-kewl land of "all things savage".

-That sounds more like an Aztec-Inca-Maya name than Maztica did.
