So far I have been the moral strength of the group with my words of wisdom, and almost paladin-like dedication to our cause. Our group is very roleplay oriented with hours passed in discussions about many things, and since there is also a paladin of Lathander in the group, a lot of topics turns around religion. Now my problem is concerning my own god Kelemvor. What happens to a cleric of Kelemvor when she dies? From the players guide to Faerun page 152-153: the souls of the Faithless form a living wall around the city of Judgment, while the souls of the False are sentenced to servitude within the city, where they are sometimes tortured by devils. But what happens to the faithful of Kelemvor and Jergal? Are they to live in that city and risk falling prey to the devils too? |

Jergal pulls your file so to speak, ushers you up, reads your life's deeds and so forth before Kelemvor where you are judged and sent on your way...in this case, you go nowhere if your patron diety was one of these 2. that is, Fugue Plane is their home plane. largely, what i'm guessing is after judgement is pronounced, you are given your eternal reward in typical LN fashion and are enlisted to help in the growth and maintainence of the plane overall. the Devils are FORBIDDEN to mess w/ any of the gods' faithful, especially Jergal's and Kelemvor's. they have a working arrangement w/ Kelemvor/Jergal to mete out punishment to those "deserving", not randomly terrorizing souls. that's what the invading demons do, and the devils help fend them off in much the same way i'd imagine all of Jergal/Kelemvor's faithful do as well. otherwise, wouldn't randomly punishing yoru loyal followers w/ fiendish outsiders set a bad precident? no, their faithful, particularly the clerics and the like would be well taken care off. basically becoming orderlies, helping other souls get to their god's planes, filing away scrolls of the dead for Jergal, helping to build the Wall, driving out demons, spying out Cyricist loyalists, serving as go-between between living and dead, etc. pretty wide open experience really, but that's the beauty of Death as a portfolio. it has endless possibilities and i would think the karmic rewards for their faithful would be ironclad. |
