| #1cowscows527Dec 01, 2008 21:22:05 | Hello all, Are there any books which continue the events of the War of the Spider Queen series and the Lady Penitent Trilogy? I don't know anything about Forgotten Realms except for those books and I liked them. Specifically, are there any books which detail Correlon (Spelling?) against Lolth and the new Dark Elves? Thanks for any and all responses. |

Clearly, their intention is to convince people that being good aligned in the Realms is useless, and that evil always wins through trickery and cunning. |

| #8greekgeorgeDec 03, 2008 15:29:15 | @Msatran - Are we talking about the same novels? The ones in which Selvetarm was destroyed, Vhaeraun was destroyed, and Kiriansalee too? Where many poor Dark Elven bloodlines, who never had anything to do with demons, were freed, by Drow casting High Magic, from their black-skinned curses state and became true Dark Elves once more? Sure, a lot of the Eilistraee folk and the Vhaeraunites who convert to the Dark Lady's worship get killed, but in one sense... if you knew that history for 4e was gonna trash Eilistraee anyway, I think it was a really good send-off, "in story, in character, in canon" to make the shift. I know the events of those novels really, really shake up some things, but in the end, I was very surprised by most of the content. Now, otoh, I think the character of Hallistra is a mess, and I have no idea why such a sad character exists, with no chance of redemption. In my homebrew Realms, the Silence of Lolth occured when Lolth freed herself of the madness which Shar had wrapped her in. [When my Araushnee was exiled from Arvandor, it was because she was set up, although she was not lawful good, she was framed. Then, when she left the grace of Arvandor, Shar--a kinda primordial, void deity--jumped her and drowned her in darkness, at which point she became a twisted version of herself. Now, she was no longer the Weaver of Elven Destiny, but the Spider Queen. Lolth was the disease, the madness, which held Araushnee, and she was lost in herself.] In my Realms, Lolth's daughter Laveth (from Dungeon magazine) climbed up to take her mother's place, and Araushnee--now reduced to almost mortal status--tried to plead her case to elves, and perhaps gain a "hearing" with the Seldarine after so many ages. My point being, instead of the "return to the status quo" of the Lolth 6 books, which is like a Star Trek episode, I think Lisa Smeadan was allowed to write changes even more profound than the Time of Troubles. I don't mean to saw, in any way, that you are wrong. Just offering my opinion. I know some people are unhappy with the 4e Realms, but I believe that if we--the players, who are ultimately voting with our dollars--support the 4e Realms, then WotC will too. Certainly, our LFR RPGA games are alive and well, and very much have classic Realms flavor. WotC is staffed by gamers, and if we show them how much we love the Realms, I believe they will publish more and more material for it, including modules, new sourcebooks, and so forth. I'm an optimist, however. I also like the challenge of coverting my 3.5 Realms campaign and forcing myself as DM to "write" in the new 4e Realms. It has really, really given my imagination some great exercise and energy. After all, I am bringing back the Gold (Elf) Eladrin Vyshaan, now that Evermeet is out of the way, wounded, and if you think the Crown Wars were nasty... whew... !! My players, almost all Eladrin or Elves, one Drow, are going to DESPISE Gold Eladrin. And, I am writing all of this as someone who loves elves in FR, perhaps as much as Lord Karsus. |

More than likely, she was told she had to put these setting changes in. |

The author then has free reign (for the most part) to tell the story however he/she wants to, incorporating whatever WotC told them (if anything). -Obviously, the bigger type things aren't going to happen because X author wants it to, and goes on and does it. |

I'd love to hear something more about this Laveth. I tried googling her, but can't even get the name of the adventure she was in. Nothing came up except the fact she's a daughter of Lloth. |
