It seems odd to me that Corellon is Unaligned in PHB and Good in FRCG.

What do you think he really is ?

Take care,

Michael

the corellon in the phb is NOT the same Corellon Larethian in the FR or Greyhawk.

As a member of the Seldarine, he has always been a force for good in the Realms.

He's still Chaotic Good, if you'd ask me :P

I'm still wondering why they made Corellon unaligned in core lore.

-Right.

-'Unaligned' doesn't mean, you know, "I don't care". You can be 'Unaligned', and have a very powerful sense of goodness and justice and all of that. You're version. Which goes with Corellon Larethian quite nicely.

Isn't corellon an Orc in 4ED?

I like him unaligned, it adds to the sense that there's a different way of looking at morality when you come from a plane full of fey then what you have coming from a typical human village.

-I'm actually Corellon Larethian. Karsus = Corellon Larethian. Karsus= All of the Seldarine, actually.

Either alignment works for me, actually. And I actually really like the 4E core (unaligned) Sehanine--she helped inspire a character.

-That's not a retcon. I'll admit it...I've always been the Seldarine. My NDA expired, though, so I can talk about it, now.

Well if you can talk about being the Seldarine, then I can finally admit I am AO. So bow down and do my bidding...

This is something else I gotta wonder about. Why is Sehanine, previously an FR deity, now in core...but not in FR? Anyone else confused on that point?

I believe they thought Selune was more Iconic in FR, since she is featured in more of the books and was/is a central part of Shar's story.

Well, I think technically she's not not in FR. I think she's likely considered/revealed as an aspect of Selune, just as Hanali is considered/revealed as an aspect of Sune.

So, you if you're playing 4E with an elven or eladrin cleric of Selûne, can you take the Channel Divinity feat for Sehanine? or do you need to worship Angharradh instead?

I would say Selune, since you are worshiping that aspect of her, and Angharradh already had her own church. Basically you are just calling Selune by her Elven name.

Bah, Sune is an aspect of Hanali! *grumbles about self-important humans*;)

(I still don't know why the designers didn't just say that the Spellplague caused Sehanine, Hanali, and Aerdrie to permanently merge into Angharradh...)

Actually, I don't know why core Corellon in Unaligned. I thought that his being Good would have made the three "fey" deities into a nice little trinity of their own. Oh well.

-Actually, about that. Penknight figured it out:

Wait a minute... Ao... Karsus... I definitely see a name similarity there! That's what happened to you, you became Ao!! Yes, it all makes sense now...

Amazing... but, isn't there a rumor floating around that you are a vestige? ;)

-Happens all the time, people seeing their children get grievously hurt, die, whatever. A parent who sees his/her child drown, and doesn't get there in time, are they not 'good' anymore?

The designers thoughts on this (based on what they've said) are that there doesn't need to be more than one moon goddess. There's already Selune, and in their opinion she was more important to the setting than Sehanine. Thus, Selune takes over and Sehanine was simply one of her aspects.

Sehanine lives on in the core setting, it's just that she's unaligned and has a different (though not drastically different) set of interests and dogma.
