#1 poisonbladed Oct 12, 2009 20:11:43	I was reading in the FR setting book for 3.5 and I noticed that Azoun IV was dead.    When did Azoun die? Does anyone know of a strickly Cormyr timeline? How did Azoun die? I was talking in chat and some people thought he was killed by a big dragon.  Is this true? Any links or help in this matter would greatly come in handy as my new game features the mean big bad guys having dealings with Azoun.  This knowledge would greaty help my campaign be set in the now and a bit more book accurate.  If he died that would greatly explain a lot of things that happened both in the game the bad guys come from and the one I am starting.

Yeah King Azoun IV died defending Cormyr, from a big ass dragon. Basically they offed each other in battle. This happened back in 3.0 era. Not sure of the year, I think it was 1372 Dale Reckoning? Id have to dig out some books to check. There was a novel about it too called Death of the Dragon.   There is a Cormyr timeline in the old 2e Cormyr sourcebook.
#3 sfdragon Oct 12, 2009 20:49:46	it was part of the cormyr series.   dont remember the first book but... the 2nd was Beyond the high road and the third was indeed Death of the dragon.       and technicallly I dont think the red dragon was full dragon ion a technical sense
Here The_Silversword Oct 12, 2009 21:10:54	Ok i just checked and that 2e Cormyr book doesnt have a timline in it. It does have some history in it though and lots of useful info. Good write ups of all the cities in cormyr. Volos guide to Cormyr is another good one to have. King Azoun died in the Year 1371 DR, not sure of the exact date. I found a timeline Here

He died in combat with Nalavarauthatoryl, the "Devil Dragon", ending the Goblin Wars, the plot that began with the attempted assassination of the king, and the "unleashing" of the Ghazneths. That's a quick summation (with the ending) of the Cormyr trilogy, which is made up of Cormyr: A Novel, Beyond the High Road, and Death of the Dragon. As for a history of Cormyr, the digital copy of AGHotR is color coded, and Cormyr is one of the histories that has it's own color code, making for easy reference.
