| #1the_rangerJul 01, 2008 23:13:14 | I haven't been checking the boards in a while, so maybe I missed this answer already, but does anyone know if there's going to be any more Countdown to the Realms articles? I thought it was going to be a fairly regular column, but there only seems to have been a few and I can't find others that were promised in previous articles. |
| #2markustay63Jul 01, 2008 23:16:09 | There was supposed to be another one about the gods, but that date came and went long ago, and with the FRCG coming out next month, I don't expect to see anymore previews. From now on, they want us to pay for their ads - why give us for free what they can hold back until the DDi is... well... anything. |
| #3the_rangerJul 01, 2008 23:20:35 | Well that should work out just swimmingly on my Mac... oh, wait, no support for that on DDi. |
| #4markustay63Jul 01, 2008 23:27:08 | Don't fret... I doubt it will run on Windows either. :P |
| #5StiggerJul 02, 2008 3:00:52 | No love for the Apple-loving freaks of the world... as it should be. :P :D |
| #6nymrohdJul 02, 2008 6:44:39 | Well the Dragon and Dungeon Magazines worked reasonably well for June. And the articles were pretty decent. |
| #7rinonalyrna_fathomlinJul 02, 2008 10:39:46 | Well the Dragon and Dungeon Magazines worked reasonably well for June. And the articles were pretty decent. I really have to agree here--I liked some of the Dragon articles so far. ![]() |
| #8lord_karsusJul 02, 2008 11:08:26 | I haven't been checking the boards in a while, so maybe I missed this answer already, but does anyone know if there's going to be any more Countdown to the Realms articles? -I asked Rich a few weeks ago, and he said he didn't know, as he doesn't know the people who handle that stuff. But, as MT said, being as that the FRCG is going to be out in a few weeks, I wouldn't expect to see any more Countdown to the Realms overview articles. There's an online DRAGON article about Cormyr, but, other than that... |
| #9merrikcaleJul 03, 2008 21:32:26 | -I asked Rich a few weeks ago, and he said he didn't know, as he doesn't know the people who handle that stuff. There's an online DRAGON article about Cormyr, but, other than that... yeah now we got the ditty about Amn as well |
| #10lord_karsusJul 03, 2008 21:38:35 | yeah now we got the ditty about Amn as well -I thought the Amn and Cormyr articles were together. But, yeah, there's a pending Cormyr article, but, other than that... |
| #11merrikcaleJul 03, 2008 23:26:06 | -I thought the Amn and Cormyr articles were together. But, yeah, there's a pending Cormyr article, but, other than that... I would think the Cormyr articles will be in much greater detail |
| #12lord_karsusJul 03, 2008 23:40:58 | I would think the Cormyr articles will be in much greater detail -Well, that Amn article was more of a "preview", whereas the Cormyr article is supposed to be a full-blown article...Right? |
| #13merrikcaleJul 03, 2008 23:41:44 | -Well, that Amn article was more of a "preview", whereas the Cormyr article is supposed to be a full-blown article...Right? right |
| #14the_rangerJul 04, 2008 1:50:27 | The preview read like they were going to b posting some snippets of info in the weeks leading up to the FRCG's release. I'm looking forward to seeing what they've done to the setting, although I suspect I might not like some of what's been lost... we shall see. |
| #15reneshatJul 04, 2008 3:30:48 | -Well, that Amn article was more of a "preview", whereas the Cormyr article is supposed to be a full-blown article...Right? Is Brian supposed to be doing it? |
| #16lord_karsusJul 04, 2008 13:55:56 | I'm looking forward to seeing what they've done to the setting, although I suspect I might not like some of what's been lost... we shall see. -An general overview of what is going on can be gleamed in th 4e FAQ thread. Is Brian supposed to be doing it? -Yes. |
| #17reneshatJul 04, 2008 22:25:56 | Well then, I have full faith that the Cormyr article will be great. |
| #18lord_karsusJul 04, 2008 23:22:56 | Well then, I have full faith that the Cormyr article will be great. -For someone looking forward to Cormyr in the 4-Gotten Realms, I have no doubt. Like my issues with Blackstaff, because of when it's set, there is only so much I'll be able to gleam from it, and appreciate it. |
| #19the_rangerJul 05, 2008 0:46:48 | -An general overview of what is going on can be gleamed in th 4e FAQ thread. I've read over the general stuff. I guess I'm looking forward to seeing what's going on with various locales beyond "the world as you know it is gone." When I initially saw the 100-year jump I wasn't too keen on the idea, but a few things I read since then have at least made it seem interesting. Give the years I've invested in the Realms, I may hate it, of course, but I'm still game to giving it a try. For instance, I like the idea of Halruaan survivors becoming mercenaries based on skyskips. |
| #20lord_karsusJul 05, 2008 0:51:31 | -Opinions vary like the weather. If you like the stuff, good for you. |
| #21Mr_MiscellanyJul 05, 2008 2:10:41 | I thought it was going to be a fairly regular column, but there only seems to have been a few and I can't find others that were promised in previous articles. I asked Rich about this too just the other day on the "Ask the Designers" thread at the top of the forum page. He said they're short-staffed at the moment and so their plans haven't turned out like they wanted them to. ::::::::::::::::::::: I too am looking forward to the Cormyr article! We're well under way in the 4E Realms in my home campaign and we're based out of Cormyr. It will be good to have more Cormyr information to help build up my 4E FR game. |
| #22reneshatJul 05, 2008 2:32:43 | It will be good to have more Cormyr information to help build up my 4E FR game. Have you heard about 'Bobby the Wondermage' yet? |
| #23Mr_MiscellanyJul 05, 2008 2:38:27 | :zooooooooooooooooooooooom: (Sound of airplane flying over my head) Come again? |
| #24reneshatJul 05, 2008 2:42:51 | :zooooooooooooooooooooooom: Sorry, on another thread I mentioned the coming side-effects of LFR being canon resulting in Teh Pwnzor reaching godhood and Szass Tam being killed by Bobby the Wondermage. It was a completely out of left field comment, and there was no particular reason you should have understood it. |
| #25Mr_MiscellanyJul 05, 2008 3:17:17 | It's OK. Thank you for explaining! :D ::::::::::::: So, where are we at? We've got the Cormyr article coming up and.....nothing else on the horizon? If anyone out there at WotC reads this: I vote for a preview blurb about Thay! |
| #26JohnLynchJul 05, 2008 3:19:46 | So, where are we at? We've got the Cormyr article coming up and.....nothing else on the horizon? I'd expect something in the "August and Beyond" article (assuming we get one, we had one for both June and July). I'd also say there's a good possibility we'll get a Dragon article in August. After September I am hoping for a LOT of articles on FR. |
| #27lord_karsusJul 05, 2008 9:28:57 | So, where are we at? We've got the Cormyr article coming up and.....nothing else on the horizon? -Being as that the actual FRCG will be on bookshelves in a few weeks, it is likely nothing. There are still articles that haven't been published yet, so perhaps they might sneak one more thing in before that. |
| #28Mr_MiscellanyJul 06, 2008 12:16:15 | You may be right, but 'tis my hope they manage to sneak in something (anything) that might have been produced for teh lead in to the FRCG, but was never ultimately scheduled for release online. |
| #29rinonalyrna_fathomlinJul 06, 2008 19:32:41 | -For someone looking forward to Cormyr in the 4-Gotten Realms, I have no doubt. Like my issues with Blackstaff, because of when it's set, there is only so much I'll be able to gleam from it, and appreciate it. Ditto. As I've said before, though, if I like something I see, I'll find some odd way to implement it into my Realms. ![]() |
| #30rinonalyrna_fathomlinJul 06, 2008 19:34:38 | He said they're short-staffed at the moment and so their plans haven't turned out like they wanted them to. That makes sense. It's nice to hear a confirmation about what's been going on. Thank you for asking about it. |
| #31lord_karsusJul 07, 2008 20:49:35 | Ditto. As I've said before, though, if I like something I see, I'll find some odd way to implement it into my Realms. -Most people do. |
| #32StiggerJul 08, 2008 0:46:44 | Apparently not enough to make WotC happy... seems to be an issue for enough people to make a point of it with 4e from what I've gathered. Seems stupid not to use everything you've paid for to me, but I've lost quite a bit of faith in the common sense of my fellow gamers of late. |
| #33lord_karsusJul 08, 2008 0:59:53 | -Don't ask me. Apparently, I'm 'weird', and don't do things the right way. ![]() |
| #34StiggerJul 08, 2008 1:37:38 | Glad you're finally admitting that to yourself... I've found it to be very liberating myself. :D |
| #35merrikcaleJul 08, 2008 9:31:02 | -Don't ask me. Apparently, I'm 'weird', and don't do things the right way. you finally figured that out |
| #36TheriseJul 08, 2008 10:05:31 | -Don't ask me. Apparently, I'm 'weird', and don't do things the right way. It's because you still eat cole slaw with chopsticks instead of a spork like everyone else. Weirdo wrong-doer! CONFORM! :P ;) :D |
| #37StiggerJul 08, 2008 10:07:06 | I don't like cole slaw at all... |
| #38TheriseJul 08, 2008 10:07:53 | I don't like cole slaw at all... And that's why the Colonel is so very, very disappointed in you. ;) |
| #39StiggerJul 08, 2008 10:14:22 | Ugh, I don't eat that either... the smell of salt and lard are just too overwhelming to ever actually eat it. Add in the smell of chile verde or pizza on top of it, and its just more than I can take... |
| #40TheriseJul 08, 2008 10:43:55 | Ugh, I don't eat that either... the smell of salt and lard are just too overwhelming to ever actually eat it. Add in the smell of chile verde or pizza on top of it, and its just more than I can take... Hmph! You'd probably refuse a Krispy Kreme donut too! :P |
| #41lord_karsusJul 08, 2008 11:15:43 | Glad you're finally admitting that to yourself... I've found it to be very liberating myself. :D you finally figured that out -You see this? |
| #42lord_karsusJul 08, 2008 11:17:31 | It's because you still eat cole slaw with chopsticks instead of a spork like everyone else. Weirdo wrong-doer! CONFORM! :P ;) :D -I barely have the ability to use chopsticks. Rin can attest to this. It took me some effort to be able to pick up a chunk of chicken, and eat it. I contemplated attempting to eat some rice with chop sticks, but thought better of it. Cole slaw is far beyond my ability, I won't fool myself. |
| #43xhereticxJul 08, 2008 12:37:31 | Ugh, I don't eat that either... the smell of salt and lard are just too overwhelming to ever actually eat it. Add in the smell of chile verde or pizza on top of it, and its just more than I can take... You have essentially just named off all of my favorite flavors in food and then outrightly rejected them;) . |
| #44StiggerJul 08, 2008 13:48:01 | I wouldn't eat a Krispy Kreme donut if my life depended on it... :P As to your favorite flavors XHereticX, I'm sure your doctor will be very pleased with your favorite flavors when it comes time for you to pay your medical bills from all the treatment you're going to need from them... ;) And I'm great with chopsticks... or course I can also unhook a bra with one hand without having to look in less than 3 seconds, so I guess I rolled high on manual dexterity when I was born. :D |
| #45markustay63Jul 08, 2008 13:55:08 | Peppery Kentucky Fried Coleslaw is great, but Popeye's Chicken is off the Shiznee! Krispy Kreme's are over-rated. When I went down south everyone said I just had to have one. They weren't ANY better then Dunkin Donuts! And Entenmann's put them both to shame. :P |
| #46StiggerJul 08, 2008 14:16:01 | Home-made beignets beat all of them hands down if done properly... |
| #47lord_karsusJul 08, 2008 14:40:29 | And I'm great with chopsticks... or course I can also unhook a bra with one hand without having to look in less than 3 seconds, so I guess I rolled high on manual dexterity when I was born. :D ![]() Krispy Kreme's are over-rated. When I went down south everyone said I just had to have one. They weren't ANY better then Dunkin Donuts! -Agreed. -Like I said with the Amn article (and it applied here as well), there aren't going to be any Dunkin Donuts in the 4-Gotten Realms, either. |
| #48xhereticxJul 08, 2008 17:25:45 | As to your favorite flavors XHereticX, I'm sure your doctor will be very pleased with your favorite flavors when it comes time for you to pay your medical bills from all the treatment you're going to need from them... ;) Please, I'm only 16, I don't have to worry about that until I'm a 50 year old geezer like you:P When all else fails, live life to the fullest, and live to regret it another day. |
| #49StiggerJul 08, 2008 17:57:54 | Feh, I'm not even 40 yet... I just prefer good food over high-fat high-sugar junk food. Not my fault you don't have any taste when it comes to food. :P :D As to regret, I generally avoid that particular feeling, same with guilt. Serves no purpose and makes it far too easy for others to manipulate you. ;) |
| #50xhereticxJul 08, 2008 17:59:41 | Feh, I'm not even 40 yet... I just prefer good food over high-fat high-sugar junk food. Not my fault you don't have any taste when it comes to food. :P :D 1. I actually do eat a lot of gourmet food, I just eat junk food as well. I eat everything, and I never get fat.:D 2. Yeah, I agree. |
| #51StiggerJul 08, 2008 18:14:25 | Just wait until that youthful metabolism slows down... then you're screwed. :P :D |
| #52xhereticxJul 08, 2008 18:19:42 | Just wait until that youthful metabolism slows down... then you're screwed. :P :D Nah, I know its genes.;) |
| #53rinonalyrna_fathomlinJul 09, 2008 15:09:42 | -I barely have the ability to use chopsticks. Rin can attest to this. Indeed.;) I just bite the bullet and use a fork, LOL. |
| #54lord_karsusJul 09, 2008 17:15:29 | -It's easier...Although, certain things, you can stab with chop sticks... |
| #55IluvrienJul 09, 2008 20:00:24 | -It's easier...Although, certain things, you can stab with chop sticks... Stabbing is fine. Cutting? With Chopsticks? Which masochist thought that one up! Although my attempts are always hampered by my girlfriend (Japanese) laughing so hard that she cries every time I try . |
| #56merrikcaleJul 09, 2008 20:40:35 | why a spoon, cousin 'cause it'll hurt more |
