Hi everyone! I'm going to start a campaign in the Dalelands and I figured I'd give 4e a go (despite all my misgivings and those of my players). Unfortunately, the information in the FRCS seems to be a bit sparse, especially when it comes what happened between the spellplague and "now". Any information that anyone has would be awesome!

Also, has anyone created a more detailed 4e map of the Dalelands? I'm really really bad at photoshop and the like, and it's really nice to have extra small towns and things included. I'll do the work if I have to, but I'm hoping to shamelessly steal from someone else.

Well, you could always pick up the old books and develop from there. Regarding the maps, I don't know if he has any, but MarkusTay has been developing 'blank' maps for use with 4E.

Yup.

What you read is what you get - thats all there is.

You are supposed to "make-up the rest".

It is worth mentioning that the Dalelands received six pages in the Campaign Guide, as opposed to the two pages given for the majority of other regions. It also has several major timeline events noted, with the year in which they occurred.

Because of the conflicts that occurred during this period, a more detailed map beyond the major settlements may not be needed. You can freely add or abandon any unmapped sites or towns as your campaign needs them. Either creating new ones of your own design that sprang up in the preceding century, or abandoning those that existed in previous editions due to necessity or lack of access to that lore.

In both cases you would likely be attributing either their absence or appearence in the continuity to unknown past catastrophes associated with the Blue Fire or with warfare with Netheril.
