| #1rizen_isstaria_dupSep 19, 2008 23:45:05 | Am I the only one wondering if their going to put Dark Elves as a race in 4e FR's ? Or have anything on them at all ? I've been wondering about it for awhile, does anyone have any ideas or opinion ? I think maybe they might put them in a splat book. |
| #2Mr_MiscellanySep 20, 2008 0:11:33 | Hello Rizen Isstaria, You mean Drow, right? If yes, their game stats and information can be found in the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide, page 8. |
| #3rizen_isstaria_dupSep 20, 2008 0:26:42 | Hello Rizen Isstaria, Actually, the drow ancestors, the dark elves. They're mentioned in Lisa Smedman's Ascendancy of the Last. Some drow turned into dark elves. |
| #4Mr_MiscellanySep 20, 2008 0:42:09 | Ahh....I see. Well, I'm no authority there. Game stats-wise I guess they'd be about the same as Drow....but again that's just a guess on my part. You've tickled my fancy enough that I want to purchase that book again, though. |
| #5marius4Sep 20, 2008 0:53:08 | They are green elves. FRPG pg. 16 describes green elves. Threads and novels and sourcebooks describe the history, identity, and connections. I'm sure someone will chime in here in a bit. ![]() |
| #6springwindSep 20, 2008 9:28:29 | Yes they are "green" (sic) elves, but if we follow the 4E lead then they are really dark haired, dark skinned Eladrin!!!!!!...... race is such a mis-used and mis-understood concept...... genetically there would be no difference between a green elf and a dark elf, be they Ilythiiri or Miyeritari..... it all comes down to skin colour & accidents of history..... ![]() |
| #7davesaundersSep 21, 2008 17:20:20 | Lord Karsus told me that dark elf stats are not drow stats. He said they are Wild Elf stats, because the original drow were Wild Elves who got transformed into Drow. I didnt notice any mentions of dark elves in the FRCG though, so maybe something happened and they dont exist anymore. |

| #9GreenKnightSep 21, 2008 19:25:30 | Use the Elf stats in the 4E PHB if you want to play a Dark Elf. |
| #10lord_karsusSep 21, 2008 21:02:57 | Lord Karsus told me that dark elf stats are not drow stats. Spellplague? ;) -Hey, it works for everything else, so why not? |
| #11rizen_isstaria_dupSep 21, 2008 22:41:52 | Ah I see, I was a bit disappointed when I didn't see anything on them in both new 4e books. Not even a single paragraph. |
| #12kaelenselunelSep 22, 2008 4:03:02 | I figure they're saving specific information on Dark Elves (and Lythari and Star Elves and whatever else might not be specifically mentioned yet) for a DDI article in the future. That's my hope, anyway. I would have liked to see a feat to distinguish dark elves from the other elf-based cultures, but I'm willing to wait and see what they come up with ![]() |
| #13keverasSep 22, 2008 7:07:49 | Use the Elf stats in the 4E PHB if you want to play a Dark Elf. I personally would use the eladrin stats, since dark elves seem to have more in common with sun and moon elves than with green elves. But that's just my opinion. |
| #14darksideavatarSep 22, 2008 20:37:22 | Heh, They are just wild elves now. No need to call them dark elves as there is no difference between them. Wendonai = Deus Ex Machina He was a crappy last second excuse to have this change to the drow/dark elf relationship...and ultimately was used to kill off Eilistraee because if it happened this way there "wouldnt be a need for her anymore". Yeah, tell that to the Drow trying to find a new direction when he/she leaves the Underdark. In my game, I dont play with crappy last second excuses as my players start asking intelligent questions about how past lore has been ignored, not to mention they point out just how stupid it is (anyone else ever notice that Wendonai has NEVER been mentioned in past FR lore until very recently? That means deus ex machina...almost literally too) The whole FR "every being gets to choose their own fate" was thrown out with this poor piece of refuse that was the deus ex machina of Wendonai. There are plenty of other threads that discuss this subject that all agree with me...since it's so sadly....sadly true. |
