Dead Psionic Zones.

May 05, 2008 12:14:23 In Drizzt's Guide to the Underdark, it is said that there is a 'dead-psionic' zone, in Oryndoll, much akin to a dead magic zone.

This brings up a few interesting points.

First, how is such a zone created?

Second, can magic that mimics/emulates psionic abilities function within said zone?

Third, does this type of zone indicate that psionics has a sort of 'mind-weave' similar to the actual weave, which can in fact be disrupted?

-Good question. Perhaps it is because of something in the area, like quartz, or something to that effect. If you want to be technical, see the Expanded Psionic Handbook.

-If you use the rule that Magic and Psionics are similar, but different things (I know I do), then yes. If you use the interconnectivity rule, then, no, I don't think so.

What I was really wondering is could it be a high-level psionic power or spell, akin to the Create Dead Magic Zone 9th? level spell I thought existed, or am I mis-remembering dead magic zone creation?

-I'm letting someone borrow my EPH, so I actually can't check it, but I am sure there is such a power. Or, at least something that dampens Psionic manifestations for a limited time.

May 05, 2008 15:18:16 Wish could probably pull it off... Limited Wish as well possibly for a very small one. As for psionics, I suppose you probably could somehow, a Bend Reality or Reality Revision come to mind. That presumes the DM was willing to allow it to function similarly to a Wish/Limited Wish. Don't recall a Create Dead Magic Zone spell though.
