Hey guy, I'm a big fan. I'm just writing to see what you've been up to. Last I recall hearing, you were sending out Deathstalkers to resurrect you. How'd that turn out? I hope it's going well. Think maybe you could speed it up? You've got 100 years to do it until the time period of the new edition, so hopefully you get that taken care of.

Did you hear about Bane, by the way? He's kind a *BLEEP*, I know. But he even got to be in the new "default" setting. And his whole resurrection through his son thing, we know he stole it from you. I'm not trying to rub all that in, but you can't let him show you up anymore. You need to step up on your own resurrection. That whole "Bhaal-spawn" thing didn't seem to work out for you, but don't let that get you down. I believe in you!

Get crackin,
Manion

Bhaal should be resurrected through Cyric as Bane was through Xvim. Wouldn't make sense, but it would be an improvment.

I miss Bhaal also.

Big B, if you come back, we'll be here waiting for you.

Myrkul also needs to back a comeback. I like Kelemvor fine, but after that Velsharoon tool I miss Myrkul. I think he also had some kind of resurection planned in that Neverwinter game (not that its canon).

Bhaal's essence is imprisoned under Mount Celestia. But maybe that's ended now, since there isn't a Mount Celestia anymore.... Crap, it would have been better for the realms if I absorbed his essence instead of founding a family with a wingless avariel...

I wouldn't be sure about that, sure, we still have Baator and the Abyss, (and in the MM devils and demons), but their nature has changed a lot, and I didn't read anything about Mount Celestia (and there aren't any good-aligned angels or archons in the MM), so as far as I can see at the moment Mount Celestia is dead in the new setting...

You see, she bugged the heck out of me too. But that was because her attitude reminded me of the condescension that has characterised the manner of the moneyed and titled that I have met... of which I am certainly not one. And considering I had first Yoshimo and then Imoen I needed her thieving abilities little, and as my character was a Sorceror I needed her magical abilities less.

Same as with little miss Whingey Wings... with myself and Anomen (although I wanted to give him the occasional slap too), there was no need to keep her if she got right up my nose... and she did.

Well, with the same problem I have now, Bhaal can return, because the prison of his essence is gone, and you don't have it.:P And I don't think the ending with Jaheira was better than with Aerie, the only sad ending in the program was with Viconia...

But sincerely I don't care if Bhaal returns, the new realms are such a mess-up I won't play in them, if I need Bhaal in my FR I will find a way to ressurect him. (Maybe a fallen Solar trys to steal his essence from Mount Celestia.:D )

The resulting being would be too great a terror for the Realms to contain. Lo, children, do thy homework and eat thy vegetables, lest the God of the Dead and the Knight of Shadows become as one, and bring ruin to all that ye know!

P.S. That Cyric guy screwed up in a bad way.

The only thing that Bhaal did right as a god was to be lucky to be chosen for the BG storyline. Anything he actually did in P&P makes Cyric seem like the most competent guy ever.

Between the backstory of his ascension and the BG storyline, Bhaal's career was nothing but spectacular failure after spectacular failures. Not even in his worst defeats did Cyric suffer anything even only remotely as worse as Bhaal
Depends on if you ate him or not...

Even if NWN2 is considered canon, eating him or not doesn't affect much. It was just one lesser rest of consciousness and unimportant compared to the part of his consciousness within the crown of horns

I believe that the Sandman Series/Death series by Neil Gaimen really put it all in perspective on Death. We both fear and love it. We can't admit we love it because we fear it and we fear it because we don't know it. We see experience it once in our lives, and it is a big change. So we approach it with -- in the very least -- unease.

I'll will grant you that Lord of the Dead seems a boring and unimportant post. Give that to a slob who doesn't smile or scowl, but grant the power of transition to someone who does it with style and pizazz! Not to mention the very important portfolio's of dusk, old age, wasting, decay, and dust (on every level it is applicable). These are still left open (though the triple faced sun thing kinda throws dusk out and you COULD argue that Finder's cycle of life portfolio keeps old age within it...)

Check second edition material. There is a "myth" about the "dead three" where Myrkul, Bane, and Bhaal gamble with Jergal for power and Malar shows up but is tricked. Also, most of the old books deal with those infamous three.

Cyric screwed up because he's largely responsible for the Spellplague. Last time something remotely that bad happened, (the thing that accompanied 2e and, ultimately, Bhaal's death) Bhaal was the only one of the Dead Three smart enough to stay out of the initial heist. He probably would have survived it all if Bane hadn't betrayed him and killed all his priests. Why do the evil gods who keep screwing up the universe keep getting all the breaks?

Now, how's THAT for a screwup? Bane betrays his most loyal lesser in order for more power and still gets his butt kicked. But somehow, he gets to come back.

That's all he did wrong. His two best friends screwed up and got into bad trouble. But Bhaal acted like a true friend and stuck by them. Only for one of them to stab him in the back. And he died for it. *sniffle* I hope you never get betrayed by your friends and then have people insult you for it. *baaaaaaw(l)*

Though it was Bane's idea, Big M' was responsible for the killing of the assassin's/bhaalites. Bhaal had outlived his usefulness to Bane by that point since he manifested as a contagious spirit of murderous rage and was, above all, absolutely useless. The intelligent one of the series, of course, was M, whose plan involved letting Bane attempting his foolish plan and then killing whichever (bane or Ao) survived the grueling deathmatch.

We can't admit we love it because we fear it and we fear it because we don't know it. We see experience it once in our lives, and it is a big change. So we approach it with -- in the very least -- unease.

Never much cared for those series... his novels aren't bad, but the comics weren't really to my taste. As to Death being feared and loved... not sure I see that. It is... I don't really see it as an end, simply a change. Our bodies go on to feed and nourish new life, and so we bring about life with our end. That's the nature of death... feeding new life, so I find it difficult to fear something when I've been profiting from it whenever I eat. At least that's the way I see it... obviously that's not going to work for everyone.

I'll will grant you that Lord of the Dead seems a boring and unimportant post. Give that to a slob who doesn't smile or scowl, but grant the power of transition to someone who does it with style and pizazz! Wasn't really his portfolio so much as him. He just left me with a 'meh' feeling, even after the BG series. While I loved the storyline, he just left me with a 'meh' feeling every time I thought of him.

As to Finder... I probably would give him all of that, except dusk (though cycle of life covers it in a philosophical sense, it's not in a literal one). I still think he's potentially one of the most powerful deities out there in terms of potential of his portfolio, though his divine stature hasn't quite caught up to his potential yet. Presuming he's not screwed over in the Spellplague.
