| #1MulhullJul 29, 2009 3:44:22 | I wonder, are there also any rules for deity-PC's? I usually get stones thrown at me (metaphorically that is) because I approve of the idea, at least in some ways, like a game with only Deity PC's, like Council of Wyrms had a game with only dragons. Though, I don't think being a deity would be all fun and games, especially on a world like Toril with lots of competition and other deities trying to kill you and your worshippers that you depend on. When we played AD&D 2E back in 92, Our DM disapproved of the whole idea of Deities, not just playing them, but any mention of them whatsoever. He went over our character sheets and for the religion section he said "Religion, I'm not going to bother with that, and sometimes parents get offended by that, no deities or any of that crapola." Yes, we did play with clerics and clerics of specific mythos too, but all they did was meditate and get their spells, that was as far as deities were concerned. |

| #3elondirJul 29, 2009 12:36:44 | Also there is a third party book designed for high epic (as in, 100th level) and divine PCs called The Immortal's Handbook, but be warned that it really ups the epic level play power curve big time, to beyond Marvel Comics Galactus levels. |

I'll have read mine again, but all I recall was it saying abilities of such beings, demi gods don't need to eat, sleep or breathe, etc. Not rules for actually becoming and/or playing one. There was a rule in 2E Legends or Lore that listed the criteria for a PC becoming a demi-god (or maybe NPC's, I'd have to check) thereafter you'd become retired and an NPC. Also, have you ever thought about how Deities are somewhat limited than mortals in some ways. Like Orville Reddenbacher (sp?) said "Do one thing and do it better than anyone." They must and can only follow their portfolio's, whereas mortals have weaker powers but more variety in their use. Nothing like Q in Star Trek, who can basically do whatever he wants. |

I guess third party meaning not made by WOTC/TSR? |

They're at the beginning (in explaining how to read the write-ups for the deities), and at the end. Also, have you ever thought about how Deities are somewhat limited than mortals in some ways. Itty-bitty living space..." |
| #7markustay63Jul 29, 2009 22:02:58 | Hey! Thats why they got rid of so many gods in 4e! Now I get it... They were making the deity-players feel bad... ![]() ;) :P |
| #8MulhullJul 30, 2009 23:14:35 | Hey! Kip (The Wizo) told me there was a 2E product on playing Deities, but didn't know the name of it. I know 1E has the wrath of the immortals book, never read that though, not sure what it's about. |
| #9quale1Aug 05, 2009 7:52:45 | That's from Mystara, I like that book (actually it's a boxset), cause the creation myths lore, there are some interesting creatures like megaliths, notions of thought etc. Immortal's Handbook from what I've seen is better, has some ridiculous and at the same time incredible rules, not that I played(tested) them, you can't really roleplay this. |

| #11lord_karsusAug 15, 2009 11:12:47 | -A website has a .PDF that's called "The Immortals Handbook", or something along those lines, that has in-depth details from playing deities, and even stronger things, so I've heard. I can't vouch for it, but... |
