| #1KhaeliethMay 11, 2008 9:41:52 | Has anyone done anything with Ravenloft in FR? Just interested in people's opininons. i've had a village that existed between Ravenloft and Faerûn, sorta both places at once, but obviously i had celestial signs to rule where it was. |
| #2old_sageMay 11, 2008 10:38:07 | There are official connections between RAVENLOFT and the FORGOTTEN REALMS:-From: Forgotten Realms |
| #3StiggerMay 11, 2008 14:32:06 | Is that where Gondegal got off to... I'd always wondered about that. |
| #4KhaeliethMay 11, 2008 14:38:40 | Know about the official ones, Castle Spulzeer should be there too. |
| #5StiggerMay 11, 2008 14:47:25 | Addressing the original question, last time I used it was... before 3e was released... as to how, it was in a solo game with my wife, but I could never really get the mood and flavor over the way I wanted to. And the lady who can actually pull it off doesn't much like it (and sticks me with DMing despite being a good one ), so... no, haven't really used it much at all. |
| #6old_sageMay 12, 2008 9:21:02 | Castle Spulzeer should be there too. It's already been referenced in my reply above. |
| #7old_sageMay 12, 2008 9:24:30 | Is that where Gondegal got off to... I'd always wondered about that. There was new lore regarding the "Lost King" in Grand History of the Realms. And so long as you aren't particular about which edition you're drawing information from... you'll find a little more about Gondegal in the old "Black Box" for the RAVENLOFT setting too. |
| #8StiggerMay 12, 2008 9:39:25 | Must have missed that reference in GHotR... never picked up the Ravenloft boxed set myself though, mostly just looked at a friends. Might have to swipe it again and give it a more careful inspection soon. And no, not even remotely particular about editions when it comes to information. Thanks for the tip. :D |

| #10dmdMay 13, 2008 16:03:56 | I have done a few crossover game though I never used Castle Spulzeer. Most recently I used the Pirate Ship with the Red Ghost NPC from Pirates of the Fallen Stars. When my players were sailing from Westgate straight through to Impultir. Most of the Ravenloft material I have used did not have direct FR links though. I plan on using a recent Ravenloft supplement (I believe its called Dark Tales and Disturbing Dreams) to address a characters' haunted past. I am a big fan of Ravenloft and ran a campaign back in high school. I agree with Stigger that sometimes the horror feel can be tough to get across especially in high level play where the cahracters are very tough. [However, one of my players did succumb to the mists and was granted some powers. I NPC'd the character and allowed it to come back to FR to vex the players. ] |
| #11KhaeliethMay 13, 2008 20:38:57 | Sounds good! How did you allow him to come back? Castle Spulzeer is good, as it allows you to come back, if you play with "The Forgotten Terror." |
| #12dmdMay 15, 2008 12:22:07 | Well the beauty of the mists is that you can bring people in and out at will. If the character (actually the whole group will be there) survives and puts the spirit to rest, the mists will recede from the mansion leaving them back in the Realms. |

| #14markustay63May 15, 2008 23:54:04 | I had always wanted to allow an FR party to get into RL, but then the only way out would be to another prime, and then they would have to find there way home from there. Most likely they'd have landed in GH (because I know it so well), and then I even thought about them catching a Spelljammer home. Talk about taking the 'scenic route'. :P Never really had the balls to attempt it, though. |
| #15KhaeliethMay 16, 2008 5:20:53 | How'd you plan to get them outta Ravenloft to Greyhawk? |
| #16markustay63May 17, 2008 19:24:46 | Could have been anything - I figured they would run into someone who had been stuck there for years who finally figured out a way home. Now the PCs wouldn't realize that his home was different then theirs, so when they used whatever method he discoverd (a holy relic?), they go to the wrong prime. Of course, being stuck on a different Prime world is still better then being stuck in RL. Or perhaps they'd just sail into the mists... |
| #17KhaeliethMay 18, 2008 7:36:33 | Legging it into the Mists; drunk sport in Barovia #1. |
