Did you somehow transport the PCs 100 years through time? For one major NPC run by a player, we agreed that, as he is for all intents and purposes immortal (to age at least), he was wrapped up in a chess game with his familiar. His spectral servants took care of his castle and all of his "little" work and brought food and drink while he remained completely focused on the game. For 100 years it was in check, out of check, in check, out of check, as the two matched wits in an epic symbolic wargame. By the time the familiar put him in checkmate, a century had passed. His realm was shielded from the Spellplague, so he was unaware it was happening. Now he has left the table, demanded a re-match, and has just stepped outside to find the world much changed... The others hadn't seen much use lately, so I'll most likely have the players roll up new characters after I get the FR Player's Guide. |

Some of the 4E characters are descended from the 3.5 ones and from NPCs from the 3.5 era of our older game. Certainly makes things fun for me as the Dungeon Master. |
