Yes, he answers to you the DM.

That said, there was a tidbit at the end of the ToT novels where Ao was seen interacting with a "master" of sorts. Many people took that to mean the DM, others took it more literally, but it's never been explained in more detail.

The fact of the matter is that he was indeed answering to me, his trandivine luminous Stiggerness... though I've instructed WotC to not acknowledge this to spare my e-mail address countless spam filled with the pleas of you insignicant specks of mortality. :P

Yeah, ya, the DM... tzz. This wasn't the answer you were looking for, was it, Scrinoverlord?

There are more overdeities, not just crystal-sphere-overdeities like Ao and the High God. One overdeity might represent existence ifself, being in charge of anything that exists. So either this guy, or the Creator of the entire multiverse ifself.

Note that this is just my point of view. Just have Ao answer to anyone/anything you want.

Faiths & Avatars describes Ao's superior as "A Luminous Being." But what that being is, has not been properly defined. Nor should it.

Look at it as Ao speaking to the Reader, more than some other off-stage entity and it makes quite a bit of sense. Not sure if you'll like that interpretation, but that is the most common one I've seen...

And one I prefer you lot to ascribe to. ;) :D

Well, imo, everyone has to decide for himself whether or not it should be defined.

I was intimating toward a possible official definition of the "Luminious Being" within the Realmslore. That's what shouldn't happen.

What the individual DM decides for his/her FR campaign, is valid enough.
