| #1feylinJul 11, 2008 2:53:06 | Does anyone know if we are going to get epic Jarlaxle and Artemis Stats in this edition? |
| #2StiggerJul 11, 2008 3:30:06 | Doubtful, but one never knows. The emphasis on PCs and the lack of emphasis towards NPCs would point towards the negative though I think. |
| #3zananJul 11, 2008 3:31:36 | Does anyone know if we are going to get epic Jarlaxle and Artemis Stats in this edition? You know, in the Realms, we usually do not shoot. We draw and quarter, and burn, and apply white hot iron pokers and somesuch. Well, you'll have to wait and see with regards to these chaps, though I would doubt that the would end up more "epic" than they are now. |
| #4StiggerJul 11, 2008 3:54:20 | Drow... handcrossbow... ;) |
| #5KhaeliethJul 11, 2008 3:56:55 | Artemis Entreri [NE hm [Insert levels]] Drizzt Do'Urden [CG em [drow] [Insert levels]] |
| #6DiffanJul 11, 2008 6:56:27 | Stigger is right about NPC's being played down, at least stat wise. Though they may have a small stat write up such as Drizzt Do'Urden [Good Drow ranger 20/ Swordmaster path] or Artemis Entreri [Evil human rogue 20/ shadow theif path], etc. I don't see a them doing a full write up as they had in 3e. This, I think, is a good thing because as a DM, you can put in there anything thing you want rather than what the editiors think a character should have. |
| #7merrikcaleJul 11, 2008 7:07:00 | wouldn't artemis be dead? |
| #8DiffanJul 11, 2008 7:28:04 | wouldn't artemis be dead? Depends on how the shadow-stuff works out. In a short story, Artemis stabbed a shade with his vampiric dagger and gained some of his "shadow essence". It could've made him live a lot longer with agility of a man half his age. |
| #9lord_karsusJul 11, 2008 12:27:36 | -Entreri and Jarlaxle were never epic to begin with.Depends on how the shadow-stuff works out. | #10feylinJul 11, 2008 19:04:50 | Artemis Entreri [NE hm [Insert levels]] Wasn't asking about Drizzt. Thanks, It is fun to speculate. A few of my friends are obsessed with them and I haven't gotten them to shut up since the new edition came out. I hope they killed him. That will put an end to (or at least a dapper on) the hours of Artemis/Jarlaxle slash convos my party ends up having. I had to agree to cameos to keep them on topic. So honestly I am not sure if I want them to show up or not. |

| #12DiffanJul 14, 2008 23:38:59 | True, espically since he was Drizzt's antagonist. Though I wouldn't mind reading about another duel between the two. |
| #13lord_karsusJul 15, 2008 7:26:47 | -Eh, let it be. It's a tired plot. |
| #14opal-dragonJul 15, 2008 13:50:27 | If one wished them to be in, they would have to be epic even if they weren't before, simply to balance up. Wizards went from Meteor Swarm at 17th level to Meteor swarm at 29th. Leaving either of them where they are (17th//18th level range) makes for a disconnect. |

I think Drizzt, Jarlaxle, and Entreri (if he's still alive) would be in the Epic stage by now, somewhere in the levels of 23-26 range. |
| #16atticuseternalJul 15, 2008 15:03:05 | I would stat Artemis and Jarlaxle as NPC's in 4th (which is to say as monsters; I would do this with all of the Realms characters). Artemis: Level 19 Elite Skirmisher. Jarlaxle: Level 21 Elite Skirmisher (Leader). |
| #17rinonalyrna_fathomlinJul 16, 2008 13:40:47 | -Eh, let it be. It's a tired plot. Agreed. ;) |
| #18lord_karsusJul 16, 2008 18:40:46 | -The jury has ruled. |
| #19naexJul 16, 2008 20:41:34 | Judging from the NPC's of Loudwater article, it looks like NPCs won't be statted, just given a brief description, with race and class (no levels) and their personality and activities. Even those that do get statted will follow the new plan of being created as monsters rather than characters. Mostly, IMO, they will just give a few ideas of how to run them, and then let the DM decide their abilities based on his campaign and players needs. Thus avoiding the problem they had with books like Champions of Ruin, where, in order to make them a fair challenge to players, certain entities were much less powerful than their descriptions seem to indicate. And it also allows the DM some freedom to determine the level of their own campaign. |
| #20lord_karsusJul 17, 2008 18:22:22 | -That there were no levels was the first thing that I noticed. |
| #21jimmyjimjam01Jul 17, 2008 19:58:54 | Does anyone know if we are going to get epic Jarlaxle and Artemis Stats in this edition? Are we going to get states of who in what? Ah, hell nevermind. |
| #22lord_karsusJul 17, 2008 21:41:16 | -The stats of Artemis Entreri and Jarlaxle. |
