So, heres my Basic concept for my new LFR character based off Marvel's Dr. Doom. I need someone to pitch a build to go with it. He is either going to be a warforged Wizard, Warlock, or Sorcerer.

Victor von Doom was a human spellcaster who was an expert in creating constructs. He was constantly being outdone by his rival, Sir Richard Reed, an paladin who he met in a noble academy. So Doom proceeded to build an arcane portal, hoping to summon his mother's spirit from the abyss. Reed pointed out a flaw in his summoning circle, but he was deaf to criticism. The portal exploded, destroying his corporeal body, but he was able to transfer his mind into one of his mindless warforged servitors. He believes that Reed caused the accident, and has sworn to destroy the party, now known as the Four Fantastick( whose members include Sir Richard Reed, a paladin whose reach with a longspear is unequaled, John Stormcaller, an infernal warlock, Susan Stormcaller, a cleric of Sune, and Benjamin the Grimm, also known as Thang, a spellscarred fighter whose skin has become rocky as a result of his condition. He donned his old noble cloak over his warforged form, thus becoming Dr. Doomforged!

Comments? Ideas? Criticism?

Warlock gets platemail faster than wizard, wizard has more versatility, have you pondered artifacer? less than the wizard in adaptability (missing half its spells) but it attacks with INT and CON for the added effects. They are like an arcane warlord, deal an attack and do something for your friends and enemies. Dark pact relies on either a few tanks(regenerating tanks are even better) or lots of minions.

Maybe you have or haven't seen the miniature, maybe that's where you got the idea. But WOTC made a mini that looks like doom. At our table it's called the doom bot.

But here it is.

-Where, specifically, is the character from? Given the name, Erlkazar seems a good choice.

How about makinging Thing a Earthsoul Genasi Fighter, and Johnny a Firesoul. Thing is always manifesting, and when Johnny Manifest he says well, FLAME ON!

Artificer is a decent Idea, but in the end I am still conflicted: Wizard or Dark Pact Warlock?

I meant to say Dark Pact Warlock in my last post. Though Doom is not one to lightly sign over any aspect of himself, I think with the warlock powers you could better "Fluff" some of them into powers of his armor/body.

between the two I would suggest wizard as Drdoom always has the right spell on hand to deal with the four, plus his variety of equipment would be better focused through the wizards variety of choices.

Cormyr, maybe akanul, because the resit is cool. I'm going with Artificer, it seems to fit his mix of Science and Sorcery.

-Cormyr doesn't really have any openings to slide in Warforged, without getting into either the unique, or the weird.. Akanul, maybe, but I don't know anything about it.

One flaw in the story: there is no way a paladin will ever beat a spellcaster on an arcana check. Int is not even a 3rd place stat for paladins where it is never less than second for even warlocks. :P

Heh, I love this sort of thing. I've had this very same thought often, taking super-hero characters and converting them to a fantasy game. Hmm. For Doom? I'd make him a Human Warlock with an Infernal Pact. Maybe make him Spellscarred, too. No plate armor, unfortunately (Unless you want to drop Int and burn three Feats), but Doom wore leather armor at one point (Not the highpoint of his career, admittedly, but there it is).

The Thing and the Human Torch are Earthsoul and Firesoul Genasi, respectively. The Thing's a Fighter while the Human Torch is a Sorcerer with a focus on fire spells. No idea about Mr. Fantastic or the Invisible Woman, though. Beyond that, though?

Captain America - Fighter with Scale Armor and Throwing Shield.
Iron Man - Paladin with Summoned Plate Armor and Paragon Multiclassing into Warlock.
Hulk - Goliath Barbarian
Thor - Human Barbarian multiclassed into Wizard with Thundergod Weapon (Throwing Hammer)

Just a couple ideas. Though if I were to do this, I'd use a system better suited to it, like Mutants & Masterminds, and convert the Realms over. I had just that sort of idea with Palladium Fantasy a while back. In that case, I thought it'd be cool if the party created Palladium Fantasy versions of the Justice Society of America. Using a program called HeroMachine, I even designed fantasy versions of several JSA members. I called them the Green Knight (Green Lantern), the Hour Knight (Hourman), the Star Knight (Starman), Lord Katar Hawke (Hawkman), Lady Shayera Hawke (Hawkgirl), Garrick Fleetfoot (the Flash), and the Champion of Light (Captain Marvel). Wish I still had those pictures. They were pretty cool.

I'll throw some ideas into the pile.

Reed Richards: Artificer makes sense, he's the genius who builds things. Then again he is useless...

Captain America: Without a doubt Inspiring Warlord.

I'm dying to use the Incredible Hulk mini as a big green ogre, and the Thanos one is pretty sweet too. :D

I have it, too. The minis are nice. I just wish that A) The bases were no wider than 1"x1" so that they could be used on a normal battle mat, and B) That HeroScape got to produce an entire line of Marvel miniatures, rather than just those 10 guys. They certainly look miles better than your average HeroClix figure (although they still can't get Iron Man to look good). And unlike HeroClix, you have a regular base on them. Just wish the bases were smaller...

We are - we are talking about 'modding' that mini to a standard D&D base, so as to allow smoother game-play.

Silly. :P

Some people happen to like miniatures - and they are part of the game now, and no longer an option, and therefore are an integral part of character discussions.

You should check out the Marvel 1602 comics / graphic novel, which set various Marvel superheroes and villains in the 17th century. The Fantastic Four, in particular, became the crew of the Fantastick, a sailing ship that encountered some thing, and gained elemental powers: Ben = stone, John = fire, Susan = air (invisibility and force fields), Richard = water (for being pliable).

What a coincidence!
My entire campaign is based on that warforged scout mini that looks like Dr. Doom! Doom is the big villain, and he's creating an army of "Doomforged". He made a deal with Asmodeus (Doom's a warforged warlock, infernal pact) to gain power, and Asmodeus gave him the secret of mass-producing these living constructs powered by fragments of the soul of a very powerful archmage - and in this case the soul fragments belong to none other than Halaster. The doomforged are outfitted with soul compasses that lead them to the pieces of Halaster's shattered soul. The more pieces they collect, the bigger Doom's army gets.

And this explains the presence of warforged in my Realms as well.
Doom himself was a Lantanese gnome who had a contingency to put his lifeforce in a construct body in case a catastrophe happened. Then the Spellplague hit, the contingency triggered, and his mind didn't take the transition very well. Doom went insane, got crazy for power and conquest, forgot his former life, and thought it was a good idea to literally sell his soul to the devil.

So now the PCs and Doom are in a race to collect the "soulshards". Eventually, I want Halaster's soul to be reassembled, and the Mad Mage returned to life.

And, the REAL BBEG is Asmodeus himself. The god of sin is merely using Doom to collect the soul of Halaster so he can possess it himself for eternal torment, since Halaster defied him in "Elminster in Hell". (No one gets away with that!)

But, yeah, it all started with Dr Doom as the villain, and an army of doomforged...

Love your sig. :D

Also, cool ideas there.

@BCM - I meant to say this earlier, when this thread was active - thanks for that 'heads-up'. I love 'What If' scenarios, and that sounds a lot like the X-men storyline where the world was turned into a dark-ages version of itself by Kulan Gath (who is one of my favorite villains of all time, and I've used in hm in a couple of RPGs).
