Elven Calenders??? Converted to DR

Mar 25, 2009 7:57:02 I am trying to add a tome to my campaign that was written around the time of the seven citadels war by a group of elves about events and happenings of the time when they lived.

I can't have entries such as -4500 DR as the date because obviously the writers did not know they were 4500 years before dale reckoning because it had not happened yet.

So what calander did they use and what would the conversion be to DR?

The only calander i can find that predates -4500 DR is the Aryselmalyr Calender which is DR + 11004 which would make -4500 DR become 6504 AC

But would they have used that calander or is there a better one to use?

all the others i can find CR, NR, NY, Shou, Wa, MC, US, TS & PR were created after -4500 DR and thus the same problem occours.

Mar 25, 2009 11:34:29 Most likely, they'd use the one you mentioned. It is possible they kept a record of time that began at the first flowering...

Mar 25, 2009 14:20:57 -Elves measure the passage of time based on the ruler of their realm. These spans of time are variable, and called 'Rysars'. One rysar is the reign of a specific ruler from a specific realm from his/her date of ascension to the last day of his/her reign. The next rysar begins when the next ruler takes over. Elves of Faerûn, in the chronology section, has the starting and ending dates of the various rysars from various Elven realms, with their Dalereckoning equivalents.

if they are the Dukar Lorekeepers, then the Aryselmalyr Calender would be appropriate

if they are from Evereska, then the date of the city's founding, they have no coronals, and rysars, I guess

etc. there are many possibilities
