They're not going to get rid of a staple wine.
#3 The_Silversword Sep 15, 2009 21:47:54	Yes i agree with Lord Manshoon. Sure magic was altered in the Realms, but the Ritual would still work. You look at the Rituals in the FRPG, alot of those are older spells, and they still work. Or the Scepter Tower of Spellguard adventure. Some of the treasure you get in there are rituals. Now these aren't new rituals, someone didnt come in there and update rituals and leave them for adventurers to find, these are old rituals that had been hidden away there way before the spellplauge, and they still work. So yes i would say the official ruling is old rituals still work. Maybe they had to tweak it a little or something to get it to work with the altered state of magic in the Realms, but rest assured it would still work.

If you dont like how something is written up or they killed off your favorite god, then change it. I know quite a few on these boards that complently ignore the whole spellplague thing. I kinda like the changes myself, i kinda miss the old Realms too, but thats the thing about the Realms, its always changing.
#6 Iluvrien Sep 16, 2009 7:16:42	I have just reread Elfshadow myself, actually, and I have always loved Elaine's description of the Elverquisst Ritual in that book. The change is not only in magic but in the nature of the Elves performing the Ritual. It has always seemed to me to be a High Elf Ritual (rather that Wild or Green Elf... and no I will not use the other name for the High Elves in a lore discussion) and as such may now be imbued with an extra sense of their Ancestral home, the Feywild. The Ritual embodied the passing of the seasons and reverence for Corellon Larethian with a distinctive touch of Elven magic. All of these things would strike me as being more in evidence after the Spellplague than before it. That is, of course, only my own take on it.

Not to query the completeness of this statement, but you did offer it as a single line menu item with no reference as to the cultural meaning of the spirit itself, or to the ritual that may or may not be performed on it. As such this is indeed a confirmation that Elvequisst exists in 4E (the first part of the question) and yet says little about its presentation (the second part). Any chance you could offer more information on the latter? Please?
#10 Keith53 Sep 16, 2009 19:56:23	That was the first LFR adventure (in Waterdeep) we did.  Our first draft had a more extensive discussion of menu and such, but it was deemed that wastage of word count and unrelated to the adventure so got trimmed.  I think that type of Realms Lore may end up on the new Community site, although if part of a visit by Sun Elves or Moon Elves (eladrin), we might work in the proper ceremony.  Keith

#12 Elaine_Cunningham Oct 05, 2009 15:18:28	IMO, Elverquisst still exists, but it is exceedingly rare and the few, highly prized bottles predate the Spellplague.  I've always assumed that it was made from fruit that grows exclusively on Evermeet, and since few people know that Evermeet still exists--and I suspect the elves would like to keep it that way--new shipments of Elverquisst--assuming it COULD be transported from Feywild--would raise questions.  This, btw, is solely my opinion.  The folks at WotC might have other thoughts on the matter.
#13 keithp Oct 05, 2009 19:20:10	Thanks, Elaine, those are interesting thoughts. Of the FR novels that I have read, I enjoyed Elfshadow the most, especially for the cultural details. I am now nearly done with The Daughter of the Drow.   Cheers, Keith
