I'm currently getting ready to play a Netherese wizard in a game with my friends, and I'm planning him out on the character builder. Unfortunately, I am having trouble deciding which paragon path and epic destiny fit him best, as none are directly linked to Netheril. The story behind my character is that he was trained as an apprentice in Shade Enclave, where he read many scrolls and tomes describing ancient Netheril. After he read all he could of the ancient culture, he found that he didn't like the changes made by the Twelve Princes. As a result, he set off on his adventuring career, seeking to gain enough power to return and defeat the Shades, restoring Netherese social standards to their ancient form. Anyone have some suggestions?

for a arcane PP.
outside the ones in the PHB, and the few in the frp.
there would be a few in the homebrew thread.

epic destiny( ick I HATE how wotc use epic, legendary would of done better), well there are 3.
archmage phb( I dislike this one)
Demi-God
Chosen of

of the three I'd recommend Chosen.

well, here's my 4e version of the Shadow Adept. I think it works well with Netherese wizards as well as clerics.

Next month the PH2 will be released and I'm sure there are going to be more paragon path and epic destinies for all sorts of Arcane users and Arcane Powers a month or two after that.

-This belongs in the Running the Realms section. It'll be moved.

-Sadly, there won't be any 'Netherese Archmagi' in those books, since they're "Core". I asked Rich Baker a while back, if there would be Forgotten Realms specific things in "Core" books via sidebars or whatever, but he said no. So, the well for new Forgotten Realms information continues to be pretty dry.

Which is unfortunate, because I couldn't care less about the core game world.
All of my games are Realms games.

There's no reason not to use "Core" material in FR. There's no specific "FR Wizard" class, but people use the "Core Wizard" quite happily. While there are things a DM would probably not allow (should probably not allow) most of it would be fine.

Saying that, I'd wait for Arcane Power to come out. That should have some PPs and some EDs that may be more suitable than the existing ones. Unless you level up really quickly, you should have time to consider them.

-"Core" Books always have had information that was for "Core" places, organizations, etc. It was only the occasional DRAGON magazine, or the occasional sidebar.

-"Faerûnian Wizard" is not something specific. "Netherese Archmage" is, which is the point.

Yea, I already know this but that doesn't mean additional paragon paths and epic destinies wouldn't 'fit' with a character he's trying to make. I am, however, considering doing the Netherese Arcanist as an Epic Destiny so we'll see how that goes.

Has there been any statement of how frequently we can expect dungeon and dragon articles that support the Realms?

-Anything '>' now would be fine.
