Well, I won't know until I get the Campaign Guide but Bane's symbol in the DMG was different than the 3e symbol. Whether or not that'll cross over into the Realms.....i don't know.

Some of them, yes. Amaunator, Bane, Corellon, Gruumsh, Lolth, and Moradin do. The rest are exactly out of previous editions; the artwork is new, but the symbols are unmistakable. Chauntea's is a little overly stylized, though. Of course, we only get symbols for the greater gods, and in fact most of the focus is on the greaters. There's definitely room for a Powers and Pantheons type book, if only to explain the culling of certain deities and why others have made the choices that they have.

-Rich Baker has stated that, as of now, there are no plans for such a book.

What does Lolth's new symbol look like? Same as in the Core book?

it has also been stated that the Bane in the points of light core books, is not necessarily the Dread Bane of the FR.

You mean his avatar image? That's from Don Bassingthwaite's Dragon Below series. BEST Eberron series evAR! IMO, anyways.

Oh, and I hope Kelemvor's holy symbol from 3e remained intact. A golden balance held by a skeleton arm is just awesome.

Which is pretty much the same as a non-answer - it depends...

Remember how EVERY WotC employee INSISTED there was NO 4e in the works, right up until last years Gencon...

-Just taking his word at face value. We know that, at least for the next year, there is no such plans on such a book being developed. And, being that we know the marketing strategy is to focus on a single setting at the rate of one per year (with 2008 being the Forgotten Realms, 2009 being Eberron, 2010 being something else), it seems to hold, not having such a book being published.

'Cause you were probably on the couch, watchin' the Simpson's as I came up with it.

But thanks. To be MT worthy is...is...well, it’s like being an Exarch painter or something.

-If anyone can make it work, you can.

I don’t know. That’s a pretty tall order. Those Brian R. James t-shirts didn’t sell as well as I hoped.

Maybe if I stick to god signs I’ll prosper.

Yuh. I personally don’t see anything coming out for the next few years unless DDi takes a complete plunge and nobody subscribes.

Not likely, I be thinkin’.

-You should start your very own thread for new deity symbols.

What does Lolth's new symbol look like? Same as in the Core book?

Yes, and ditto with the other "repeats." There are some cosmetic differences (Asmodeus' symbol is part of a ring, Moradin's is just the flaming anvil, Corellon's isn't part of a banner) but on the whole they are exactly the same.

I figured the symbol for Corellon in the Core book was just the star, and the banner was just showing how the symbol could be used.

My interpretation.

I dont know if it could work but we could do a petition for a Faiths & Avatars style book...What do you think?
#29

GreenKnight

Aug 27, 2008 18:38:12
Don't know if a petition would work, but I would like such a book. A Deities & Demigods book, to be exact. Something that would be appealing to nearly all D&D players, rather than just Realms players. Have a section on the Forgotten Realms gods, a section on the Eberron gods, and another section on the core gods.

Well if I remember correctly, someone here had something to do with the exclusion of Tyr and the promotion of Torm as a greater god, right?

If we join all our efforts and ask strongly for such a book, maybe (we can always hope) we'll get it, dont you think?

Yes, Greenknight.

I don't think so, sorry. Greenknight had a well-argued idea for the setting that the designers thought fit in well with their plans for the Realms. The possible sales of a sourcebook is an entirely different matter. Even if all the people who, say, signed a petition would buy such a book, WotC might still not think there would be enough buyers to make it worth producing.

Sadly, she's got a point. If petitions truly worked, then Uwe Boll would no longer be making movies. Unfortunately, that's not the case.
