| #1taziraiJul 03, 2008 17:54:52 | Eye of Savras Eye of Savras PRC Savras stood in the Center of the Great Temple in Dweomerheart. The Clear Crystal Ball beneath his gaze swam with hundreds of eyes. Grasping the ball he focused his mind. Once he was and arrogant and impetuous mortal mage. He was defeated by Azuth and imprisoned in a scepter. This imprisonment served to remove those flaws from him. Now he stood and watched over Toril, he would know her fate. He saw times of peace and times of turmoil. He pushed further ahead, He saw within only a few short years. Short to a God that is, a great darkness even his eyes could not bypass. He tried again, still nothing. The detached and calm look on his Crystalline face, did not betray his frustration. He would, in one way or another know this dark void. Thoughts of The Hidden Gods filled him, Cyric, Shar, Mask, and possibly Talos. They must be behind this somehow. Still weakened after his release from the scepter, Savras was but a Demigod. To take on those four directly, would likely result in his imprisonment again or even “death”. He would watch them instead, look for weaknesses in their own magic and defenses. Once he had the knowledge he needed, only then would he move to remove the darkness that blankets Toril. Reaching into his Crystal Ball he grabbed one of the Eyes. He had the worship of many Diviners, and Oracles at his hand. Many were simply powerful mages with great destinies. He would have them serve his church in a new capacity. They would become his Eyes on Toril. They would seek out what he did not know. Closing his mundane eyes, his third opened, and he flung the Eye towards Toril. He repeated this many times. In Halruaa Sybil a Diviner of near middle years lay asleep when she had a vision of Savras Gazing upon her. When she awoke the next morning, upon her brow was a closed third eye, and a deep sense, that she needed to go to Tashalar. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

| #4taziraiJul 03, 2008 17:56:45 | Playing an Eye of Savras An Eye of Savras typically works alone or with the aide of those capable of making up for their weaknesses in combat. Their goal is first and foremost to find things that are hidden, then to relay that info to those who can do something about it. Combat: An Eye of Savras should avoid combat whenever possible. they possess a number of weaknesses that leave them vulnerable to physical attack. In a magical duel they can prove to be a match for enemies. In either a physical or magical fight, they should hang back and provide battlefield enhancements through spells and forewarning. They can be formidable tacticians and scouts. With the ability to see an area before you arrive, and to place Runes to see where you've been. You are more than capable than equipping your group and others with knowledge. You can tell if that Army on the horizon is an Illusion ot real. Whether or not your foe uses the Weave or the Shadow Weave. Advancement: As an Arcane or Clerical spell caster The third eye above your brow symbolizes your devotion to Savras. You awoke one day with a Closed eye upon your head, because he deemed you fit to serve in a special capacity. You are either very wise, highly intelligent, or Able to concentrate fully on discovering the truth. Your skill at spotting those awaiting to ambush others is uncanny. You have learned to search for things where others don't. By learning a variety of languages, you can Gather Information, and Decipher ancient texts easily. But even when you have what you think you need. you need a good grasp of Diplomacy when you Sense that others Motives are not true. Make sure your knowledge on a variety of subjects is up to date, you'll never know when you will need them. Resources: When Savras chose you and after completing the Ceremony of Visions. You become member of a Sisterhood with some brothers to help, You are on good and equal terms with the Church of Savras. Your Fellow Eyes can be a wealth of Lore and Magic, use them with respect. The House of the All Seeing Eye opens it's door to you, and So to does the College of Divination. |
| #5taziraiJul 03, 2008 17:57:28 | Eyes of Savras In The World Things were going great setting up the Shrine of Shar in the Nath. Then from nowhere a woman's voice came to me and told me to turn around. - Sal of Shar, being shackled by the Halruaans who had just shown up behind them. An Eye of Savras is welcomed in many corners of the Shining South and regions beyond. As direct representatives to Savras, they work under the Magehounds as consultants and Investigators. In Tashalar they hunt the yuan Ti and protect the House of All Seeing. Daily Life: Many Eyes of Savras spend the day working leads, and trying to determine the cause of the great void. They don't and are not supposed to obsess about it. But many are worried for their Patron, and see his worry as theirs. Notables: One Notable EoS is Sybil the Mystery Woman. A mask wearing woman with an overly large magenta and purple cloak. She has solved and located many new mysterious happenings in and around Halaraah. A bit haughty and alot snoopy, she is often ahead of even other diviners when it comes to knowing when something is happening, or about to. Organizations: The organizations most attracted to this class are rogueish guilds who mix magic and stealth. However Savras is VERY picky about who he lets into his Order. There are less than 100 of them for this very reason. At most only 7 new Eyes are chosen a year. NPC Reaction Most people see the Eye of Savras as a sisterhood ( with a few brothers), dedicated to stopping Shar, Cyric, Mask and Talona's predations into the south. So many are more than willing to help one in need. The Magehounds, although inquisitors of Azuth recognize the total impartiality of the Eyes. They know that an Eye is chosen BY Savras, so they would have issues charging one with anything false. Shar has a particular hatred for them, as does Mask. These two gods work in Illusion, lies, and darkness. The Eyes ability to find them regardless is a tangible threat. They have kept her from expanding into Halruaa for a number of years. She finds it hard to catch them unawares, but when she does, they are in a world of Hurt. Mask takes a perverse pleasure when one of his worshipers kills one. Even so the church of Oghma and Azuth are great allies, so an Eye is seldom lacking for protectors. |
| #6taziraiJul 03, 2008 17:58:19 | Eyes of Savras In The Game Eyes of Savras are lone agents of a divine god. They are very easy to incorporate into a game. And should provide no bigger headache than a normal Diviner would. They can provide quite a bit of information to a party on the hunt for a cause. They refuse to adventure simply to adventure. They are out for seeking knowledge or leverage against the coming darkness. This class fits players who don't mind a more cerebral game, or who doesn't mind not being in the thick of combat. They can be a significant boon to any party, without even leaving home. Adaptation: By replacing Savras with a god of Knowledge and changing the region and alignment. this class can fit easily. Instead of Eye of Savras it could be the Dark Eye of Wee Jas. Encounters: Pc's may encounter an Eye of Savras in a number of ways. They could be the focus of one, they can be encountered in dungeons hunting items to combat the void. They can even be seen as "villains" if the PC's are seen working with followers of Shar, Cyric, Mask, or Talona. But an Eye of Savras will not confront the party in a fight alone, or fight to the death. Once the truth is known an Eye will no longer pursue the PC's and will actively help them if possible. Sample Encounter Give an example of how one might encounter a member of this PrC. EL x: Give the encounter level and description of a sample member of this class and a stat block for him/her. | #7lord_karsusJul 03, 2008 19:14:44 | -I'd just like to bring up, that most Prestige Classes are/were designed to "begin" sometime after 5th Level. If I recall correctly, I was told that the earliest PrC "begins" at fifth, and most "begin" a little after. |
| #8taziraiJul 03, 2008 19:45:37 | Rune of Seeing http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/tazirai/RuneofSeeing.jpg I adjusted the normal Rune of Seeing Spell to instead use Concentration as the key ability instead of Scry check. The Change to create a new Rune is Spellcraft check, instead of Scry Check. So it would be Spellcraft check (DC 8 +1 for each day last contacted. Everything else remains the same. Minor Circle of seeing http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/tazirai/MinorCircleofSeeing.jpg Again I changed the Switch rune check to Concentration. DC10. Everything else remains the same. Greater Circle of Seeing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/tazirai/GreaterCircleofSeeing.jpg Everything here remains the same. The scans come from my copy of the book and adjusted to fit. |
| #9taziraiJul 03, 2008 19:47:52 | -I'd just like to bring up, that most Prestige Classes are/were designed to "begin" sometime after 5th Level. If I recall correctly, I was told that the earliest PrC "begins" at fifth, and most "begin" a little after. Master Specialist Begins at 3rd level in the Complete Mage books. I went a little off that. It can be adjusted to allow entry at higher levels. simply increase the reqs by 2. Adjust the Spellcasting level to 3rd. Mmm think it should be higher level? |
| #10lord_karsusJul 03, 2008 19:48:26 | Mmm think it should be higher level? -Personally speaking, yes. I am of the mind that anything below 5th is just too early. |
| #11taziraiJul 03, 2008 22:27:31 | -Personally speaking, yes. I am of the mind that anything below 5th is just too early. Adjusted the reqs to make it more in tune with the core rules. |
| #12lord_karsusJul 03, 2008 22:45:03 | -Yeah, that definitely delays a character from taking the PrC too, too early. A few of those 1st Level abilities, if given at 3rd Level, seemed like they were a bit too powerful. |
| #13taziraiJul 07, 2008 22:22:23 | After a little play testing. I've with the help of DM adjusted the Entry Requirements. Since A mage hoping to enter with Spot as a requirement, would need to spend 8 skill points, unless they use a feat. So i've adjusted it down to 2 points to enter. The higher reqs were for those roguish wizards, looking to enter. Everything else is okay .. SO far.:D More varied opinions would be great. |
| #14lord_karsusJul 08, 2008 1:05:27 | More varied opinions would be great. -Fine...I know when I'm not wanted... ![]() :P |
| #15taziraiJul 08, 2008 12:28:45 | -Fine...I know when I'm not wanted... lol You're fine Karsus..:D :D |
| #16taziraiJul 09, 2008 14:24:26 | Im working on an Epic Level version of this that probably wont see play, but needed to be done. Also Touch of Savras should also have All Divination's cast as though Stilled and Extended as the feat. With no Change in casting time or level. |
| #17taziraiAug 14, 2008 17:01:59 | Bump for old times sake |
