Apr 09, 2008 14:42:58 Is there any info about psionics in FR for the fourth edition? Will there be settlements or cultures or any somewhat important NPCs that are psionic? For example, Szass Tam had a few levels in a psionic class... (if I remember correctly, I do not say this with entire certainty, before any complaints arise).

Is there any canon regarding that? Should I assume that those details would be left for later, as the rules regarding psionic characters won't come until later (if they make it to 4th Edition)?

Apr 09, 2008 15:17:39 Nothing I've heard about them, but I haven't been paying much attention I'll admit. I'd presume with the seeming increased focus on Abberations that psionics will probably pop up sooner rather than later, but that's purely speculation on my part.

Essentially, they were talking about mages and that enchantment wizardry would be less common, but psionicists would have more of that ability. They were hinting that wizards would be less of a catch all, and in turn psionics also wouldn't be able to do all that it could previously. I think the way they phrased it was something akin to "we didn't want to make psionics just another type of wizardry for which we recreate all the same abilities just using a new mechanic".

Apr 10, 2008 0:27:48 -Psionics have always existed, to it's not too likely they will suddenly disappear. Especially since Bruce Cordell, the Psionics guy, has such a prominent role in things.

That's why I call the 4ed Wizards Forced Evokers, which sucks big time because I don't like playing Specialist Wizards (unless you allow the Specialization rules from Pathfinder, the first time being Specialist intrigued me to try one someday).
