| #1lord_karsusAug 02, 2009 19:05:44 | -I saw a few posts of this nature accumulating in other threads, and I don't want those topics to get overrun, or the "theme" of this to get lost, since it's an interesting to see the cross-section of everyone, I think. Top Ten Deities (plus one bonus!) (in alphabetical order) Bahamut Corellon Larethian Finder Wyvernspur Ghaunadaur Ilsensine Jergal Labelas Enoreth Lathander The Masked Lady Torm Savras |
| #2LordManshoonAug 02, 2009 19:19:08 | Overall is tricky for me; still not sure where each stands. However: By Pantheon (With Sec/Third in brackets): Faerunian: Helm [Mask, Lliira] Seldarine: Shevarash [Rillifane Rallathil, Erevan Ilesere] Mordinsamman: Clangeddin Silverbeard [Dumathoin, Haela Brightaxe] Mulhorandi: Set [Thoth, Isis] Halfling: Brandobaris [Yondalla, Arvoreen] Gnome: Segojan Earthcaller [Gaerdal Ironhand, Garl Glittergold] Drow: Selvetarm [Vhaeraun, Ghaunadaur] Orc: Shargaas [Yurtrus, Illneval] Kara Tur: Mad Monkey [Chih Shih, Ch'en Hsiang] Maztican: Nula [Zaltec, Azul] |
| #3Nai_CalusAug 02, 2009 21:56:40 | Hmm, I wonder who my favourite could be... ;) Not necessarily in any sort of order past the first three or so: Corellon Larethian Erevan Ilesere Vhaeraun Labelas Enoreth (Despite, or perhaps because of, his portrayal in the Forgotten Realms comics and the follow-up short story in Dragon 247...) Garl Glittergold Tymora Finder Wyvernspur Sune Lliira Milil Honorable mention to Hanali Celanil, I guess, since I've got a kitten named after her sitting on my desk staring at me. :P |
| #4LordManshoonAug 02, 2009 22:06:58 | I suppose listing our least favorite deities would be too controversial?![]() |
| #5sfdragonAug 02, 2009 22:23:52 | Helm Torm Bahamut Corellon Larethian Sehanine Moonbow Selune Sune Amuanator Eilistraee Labelas Enoreth Erevan Ilesere Mystryl Shaundakul Mystra Waukeen Tymora Red Knight Tempus Arvoreen Yondala Mielikki |
| #6meldreadAug 02, 2009 22:52:33 | In no particular order. Shar Jergal Helm Amaunator / Lathander Gargauth Ghaunadaur Lolth Shevarash Luthic The Masked Lady Vhaeraun Selvetarm Arvoreen Garagos Red Knight Selune Hoar Horus-Re Thoth Sseth / Set Hm. Those are just the ones that come to my mind immediately, although there are tons more. :P |
| #7lord_karsusAug 02, 2009 23:06:03 | I suppose listing our least favorite deities would be too controversial? -Consider the thread made. ![]() -Ugh, and I left our poor Ilsensine. I went back in and added it. I like Ilsensine. |
| #8nightseerAug 02, 2009 23:50:27 | Show SHAR! |
| #9LordManshoonAug 02, 2009 23:57:10 |
|
| #10pamelaAug 03, 2009 3:52:32 | In no particular order: Amaunator Eldath (yeah, I know, she's a primordial now but she still gets worshippers) Leira (to hell with canon ToT) Obould Sune |
| #11squidyakAug 03, 2009 3:58:14 | Bane (I prefer the 4e treatment, I like him as an Ares-like War God) Oghma Helm Torm Hoar (I treat him as an aspect of Horus not subsumed by Ra's will) Nobanion Savras Moradin (Not just for dwarves in my world, there is no Gond) Annam Arvoreen Gruumsh Bhaal (A great god for Thugee-type cults) Moander |
| #12arcas_shanAug 03, 2009 4:29:50 | Eilistraee (The Masked Lady would've been be a lot cooler if she hadn't been just a setup to get rid of Eilistraee and Vhaeraun.) Helm (Normally I hate lawful but Helm is just cool.) Corellon Selûne Aerdrie Faenya Mystra |
| #13fabius_maximusAug 03, 2009 7:11:41 | Dugmaren Brightmantle, Marthammor Duin, and especially Dumathoin. Urdlen, that vicious little bugger. I like the gnome pantheon in general, though. The halfling gods do little for me. Labelas Enoreth, Rillifane Rallathil, and Erevan Illesere. Mielikki, Bhalla and The Hidden One. Ilmater Selune Shar Azuth Shaundakul Bane Kelemvor Auril Deneir Thoth Set |
| #14aumvorAug 03, 2009 7:25:35 | Amaunator (Yes, im serious. Always liked that aspect of him better then Lathander.) Torm Myrkul Auril Mask Azuth Moradin Baervan Wildwanderer (Chiktikka fastpaws!) |
| #15keverasAug 03, 2009 7:58:01 | In no particular order: Mystra (not Ariel Manx!) Ao Eilistraee, Corellon & a few others of the Seldarine Akadi & Kossuth |
| #16nightseerAug 03, 2009 7:59:28 | Oh how cute. The underline is like a dark shroud around the name of Lady Shar. I just knew you would like that.:D Embrace HER Darkness.:P ![]() |
| #17drizztsmanchildAug 03, 2009 9:12:58 | Cyric: Cyric Cyric Cyric Cyric And lastly Cyric |
| #18ody_saraph_of_karsusAug 03, 2009 10:15:18 | Torm Shaundakul Lathander Kelemvor Ilmater Red Knight Mask Selune Malar Mystra |
| #19phelf_der_zemitAug 03, 2009 14:58:55 | The halfling gods do little for me. Somebody didn't have their cup of politicly correct this morning... EDIT: More clearerish..? |
| #20suin_bahhar_02Aug 03, 2009 16:20:23 | Favorite dieties: Sehanine Moonbow Selvatarm (when he was still uncorrupted) Oghma Helm Hoar Jergal Shar Cyric Mask Gargauth Tymorra Selune Favorite primordial: Kossuth Honorable mention: Bane Bhaal and Myrkul as mortals in a cunning adventuring trio |
| #21fabius_maximusAug 03, 2009 17:04:52 | Somebody didn't have their cup of politicly correct this morning... Wut? |
| #22squidyakAug 03, 2009 17:27:31 | They prefer little people, not pecks. I mean halflings. |
| #23CaolinAug 03, 2009 19:11:20 | My favorites: Shaundakul Mystra Selune Oghma Bane Azuth Shaundakul was always my favorites because he just seemd like a natural god for an adventurer. In a game I played in years ago I had a ranger who worshiped him and the DM did a great job playing on that worship. I had a great time in those sessions and I maintained a soft spot for that god. |
| #24BelorinAug 03, 2009 23:54:01 | In alphabetic order; Bane Bahamut Baravar Cloakshadow Brandobaris Chauntea Erevan Ilesere Garagos Kelemvor Lathander Loviatar Mielikki Milil Oghma Selûne Tempus Tiamat Tymora Bel |
| #25gomeztooAug 04, 2009 1:58:23 | Difficult. Most deities have something to speak for them. But a short list of favorites: Myrkul Loviatar Malar Kiaransalee Lolth Sharess Selune Sune Tyche (aka Tymora and Beshaba) Tempus Talona Shar Hoar |
| #26AegeriAug 04, 2009 2:46:22 | Malar Myrkul Jergal Bhaal Tempus Nobody else and yeah, I realise that at least 2 of these guys kicked the bucket because they were too stupid to not run into an obvious trap. |
| #27SmartPaladinAug 04, 2009 4:11:37 | Well, one of them shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Now, in no real order. Bahamut Beshaba Helm Hoar Ilmater Kelemvor Loviatar Mask Mielikki Osiris Red Knight Selune Shaundakul Tempus Torm Tyr Uthgar Valkur Okay, I lied. It's in alphabetical order. |
| #28nightseerAug 04, 2009 7:50:17 | Cyric: ![]() :P |
| #29ZireaelAug 04, 2009 11:54:54 | Ten deities? Okay, in random order. Or maybe not so random. 1. Lloth 2. Masked Lady 3. Bhaal 4. Selvetarm 5. Vhaeraun 6. Hanali (w/o Sune) 7. Baervan 8. Helm 9. Tymora 10. Red Knight |
| #301_ton_ghostAug 04, 2009 13:05:48 | Jergal; the level-headed, smart answer to a portfolio that changes hands frequently. Red Knight; the cunning/smart foil to Tempus' war/chaos. Like Athena. Selvetarm; Lolth's champion. The only real loyalty in the drow. Quality. Loviatar; S&M meets stoic monasticism and a no-nonsense approach to life. Tymora; very easy to RP, open-ended. Friendly, strings free. Good choice for CG ppl. Mask; sinister and terribly wise, but not rampantly evil. Much fun. Umberlee; a realistic sea god(dess). She should be incredibly powerful given the simple design of the planet/it's useage, but, they've made her a footnote. Tyr; plain vanilla god of justice. Not terribly original, but vital nontheless. Silvanus; the quality nature god (neutral, as Nature should be). Meleiki and a host of many others try and do the same thing, but don't pull it off as realistically. Velsharoon; calculating, scientific evil, not the usual Evil for the sake of Evil crap. |
| #31zananAug 04, 2009 16:04:42 | Why anyone would not start with Loviatar is beyond me ... :evillaugh |
| #32IluvrienAug 04, 2009 16:37:52 | I only really had three favourites: Mystra (The second incarnation please) Sehanine Moonbow Eilistraee ...yeah. I know . |
| #33askanipsionAug 04, 2009 22:44:42 | Mystra (ToT version who died) Lolth Sehanine Bane Tiamat Selune (just wish she would do more especially in 4E !!) |
| #34Mr._WilsonAug 05, 2009 0:46:26 | Hoar- Poetic Justice and retribution is such a sweet gig. Not sure about the switch to Evil. Oghma- Naturally. Loviatar- Such an interesting goddess. Jergal- Great backstory. Lathander- As the eternal optimist, not as fond of new Lathander/Amaunator. Talos- Destruction for its own sake has merits. Bane- Always appreciated the LE Tyranny God for good villians in any setting. Shar- Before she was pounded into our skulls at the end of 3.X. Tempus- CN war god just feels right. Helm- The only God Ao deemed worthy. It's interesting to note I only chose one good deity. |
| #35quale1Aug 05, 2009 3:45:52 | Jergal Shar (ignoring the overexposure, basically one of the coolest concepts) Cyric (my own changed version, unaligned and more alien, anomalous and anarchic) Gargauth Mystra Umberlee Deneir Hoar Valkul (changed, my combination of Valkur and Shaundakul, portfolios of ventures, exploration, caving, mining, salt, fishing, ships, woodworking, wind, travel, mounts, shepherds, guidance, discovery, cartography, prosperity, skill ...). Uthgar (cause of totems) then Leira Malar (changed, dual neutral Herne/chaotic evil personality) Gond Lathander Savras (changed) Red Knight (added some more portfolios) Sharess Ilmater Finder Eldath (changed) Sehanine Moonbow (don't use many nonhuman/demihuman deities) Deep Duerra Dumathoin Thard Harr Fenmarel Mestarine Cyrrollalee Shekinester |
| #36marius4Aug 05, 2009 4:04:21 | Deciding on favorites is usually way too frustrating for me, but I really wanted to do this one. So I forced myself to pick just ten overall AND rank them! ![]() Top Ten:
Then I noticed that evil deities were being included... ...so I listed a few of them separately.Baddies:
THEN I counted more than ten deities in some posts… …so I just went ahead and listed the runner-ups and all the ones I could remember that ever stood out to me as particularly interesting! :embarrass The rest of the crowd... :invasion: Akadi Sharess/Bast Shaundakul Helm Red Knight Lathander Milil Loviatar Eilistraee ToT Mystra & Bane Labelas Erevan Vhaeraun Marthammor Duin Fenmarel Shevaresh Jergal Ibrandul ;) |
| #37keverasAug 05, 2009 11:43:54 | So am I really the only one who admires the concept of a god of gods who is able, but rarely does so due to higher, cosmic laws, to wipe the floor with all those ascended mortals, interloper deities, and the uninspiring rest of the mess that the Realms calls a pantheon? |
| #38AntherosAug 05, 2009 13:16:32 | My favorites deities: -Eilistraee -Sharess -Lurue -Sehanine Moonbow -Vhaeraun -Nobanion -Milil -Sheela Peryroyl -Liira -Mystra -Shar -Eldath |
| #39LordManshoonAug 05, 2009 21:15:00 | So am I really the only one who admires the concept of a god of gods who is able, but rarely does so due to higher, cosmic laws, to wipe the floor with all those ascended mortals, interloper deities, and the uninspiring rest of the mess that the Realms calls a pantheon? No, I like the concept of an Overgod too. I also like Ao him/itself. |
| #40lord_karsusAug 05, 2009 21:26:57 | -Like so many other things, I like Ao- or, the principle of any Over Deity- in theory, but not in practice. |
| #41tempest_of_the_7_stormsAug 06, 2009 2:34:40 | Ahhh ... where to begin, where to begin ![]() In no particular order (except the first): Leira!!! - the coolest deity ever .. and they killed off and replaced her with Cyric Gargauth - being exiled from Hell for being too badass .. how cool is that? Auril - I just like her (as well as the other Gods of Fury) Akadi - I like elementals, and she is the coolest of the 4 Amaunator - the Netheril incarnation Karsus - Epic failure :D Hoar - über cool deity .. sadly they turned him into a Bane slave Tchazzar - Evil Dragon unites people, people loves dragon, dragon becomes god ... AWESOME! |
| #42LordManshoonAug 06, 2009 16:59:17 | Karsus - Epic failure :D He just loves it when people say that. ![]() |
| #43lord_karsusAug 06, 2009 17:51:23 | -Hey, ultimately, I think it all worked out good. Everyone is just looking too much in the short term. |
| #44LordManshoonAug 06, 2009 22:09:24 | -Hey, ultimately, I think it all worked out good. Everyone is just looking too much in the short term. Well, you might not be God of Magic, but at least you have your health. At least Shar and Cyric wouldn't have tried to gank you so they could become more powerful. |
| #45Nai_CalusAug 07, 2009 1:15:57 | I was bored. I may have missed a couple. Aerdrie Faenya 1 Akadi 3 Amaunantor 4 Annam 1 Ao 2 Arvoreen 4 Auril 4 Azul 1 Azuth 3 Baervan Wildwanderer 2 Bahamut 4 Bane 7 Baravar Cloakshadow 1 Beshaba 2 Bhaal 3 Brandobaris 2 Chauntea 2 Ch'en Hsiang 1 Chih Shih 1 Clangeddin Silverbeard 1 Corellon Larethian 5 Cyric 2 Cyrrollalee 1 Deep Duerra 1 Deneir 2 Dugmaren Brightmantle 1 Dumathoin 3 Eilistraee 6 Eldath 3 Erevan Ilesere 6 Fenmarel Mestarine 2 Finder Wyvernspur 3 Gaerdal Ironhand 1 Garagos 2 Gargauth 4 Garl Glittergold 2 Ghaunadaur 3 Gond 1 Gruumsh 1 Haela Brightaxe 1 Hanali Celanil 2 Helm 10 Hoar 8 Horus-Re 1 Ibrandul 1 Illneval 1 Ilmater 4 Ilsenine 1 Isis 1 Jergal 8 Karsus 1 Kelemvor 5 Kiaransalee 1 Kossuth 2 Labelas Enoreth 6 Lathander 8 Leira 4 Lliira 4 Lolth 4 Loviator 7 Lurue 1 Luthic 1 Mad Monkey 1 Malar 3 Marthammor Duin 2 Mask 8 The Masked Lady 4 Mielikki 4 Milil 4 Moander 1 Moradin 3 Myrkul 4 Mystra 10 Mystryl 2 Nobanion 2 Nula 1 Obould 1 Ohgma 7 Osiris 1 Red Knight 6 Rillifane Rallathil 2 Savras 2 Segojan Earthcaller 1 Sehanine Moonbow 6 Selune 12 Selvetarm 4 Set 3 Shar 11 Sharess 3 Shargaas 1 Shaundakul 6 Sheela Peryroyl 1 Shekinester 1 Shevarash 3 Silvanus 1 Sune 6 Talona 1 Talos 2 Tchazzar 1 Tempus 7 Thard Harr 1 Thoth 3 Tiamat 2 Torm 6 Tyche 1 Tymora 6 Tyr 2 Umberlee 2 Urdlen 1 Uthgar 2 Valkur 2 Velsharoon 1 Vhaeraun 6 Waukeen 2 Yondalla 2 Yurtrus 1 Zaltec 1 Thoughts: Corellon's kids are slightly more popular than he is. Sehanine is inexplicably popular. Selune wins it by a mile. The Seldarine is oddly popular for how much people around here go on about hating elves. :P |
| #46LordManshoonAug 07, 2009 1:41:42 | Good. Someone else made the scorecard for this topic. Cause if I had to make the one for this thread just like I did in the Least Favorite Gods topic, I was gonna demand commission.;) |
| #47LordManshoonAug 07, 2009 1:43:52 | Aw crap. Sorry for the double post.Thoughts: Corellon's kids are slightly more popular than he is. Sehanine is inexplicably popular. Selune wins it by a mile. The Seldarine is oddly popular for how much people around here go on about hating elves. :P A mile? Helm's behind her by 2. (Are you paying attention, 4E FR designers?) So is Shar and Mystra. And despite the fact that the Seldarine are fouler than the Demon Lords, I admit I'm fond of Shevarash, Rillifane, and Erevan. Corellon can go fly a kite. Or skin a baby. Or whatever vile act delights him. |
| #48angelus_obscuraAug 07, 2009 2:06:39 | The Silver Surfer and Galactus. Edit: WHOOPS! I meant Mask and Shar. :angelhide |
| #49nightseerAug 07, 2009 2:09:10 | Except she eats whole multiverses!![]() |
| #50keverasAug 07, 2009 4:34:06 |
She just tries to but fails miserably. As with trying to seize control of the weave. Or just maintaining the shadow weave. Failure should be part of her portfolios anyway. Eventually, existence will fail, but Shar fails all the time. Actually, she's even worse than Cyric. ![]() |
| #51nightseerAug 07, 2009 4:36:04 | Or does she?;) You forget about bitterness and loss grasshopper.:P |
| #52Nai_CalusAug 07, 2009 4:43:21 | Aw crap. Sorry for the double post. Close enough. :P This is handgrenades, not precision shooting. :D Shevarash is the one who can go fly a kite. And he probably does skin babies, drow ones at least. Miserable little sot. And Corellon will skin *you* and make a kite from the skin. Wait, no, that's me doing the skinning and kite-making. It's Corellon who will lovingly take your soul after you die and let you spend your afterlife in Arvandor as an elf, singing and dancing among the trees. ![]() Meanwhile, you make a really nice kite. :P |
| #53The_SilverswordAug 07, 2009 5:52:19 | I'm surprised to see Hoar on a few people's list (Shout out to my fellow Hoarites!) I'd have to say he is my favorite god of the Realms, probably because i was so into Marvel Comics The Punisher and Hoar just seem to have that same sort of bad a$$ vibe to him. Kinda irks me that hes now with Bane. I mean come on Bane!!??? He got killed off in Time of Troubles not once but twice, how lame is that? And now Hoar thinks its a good idea to join with him? Come on! Always wanted then to do more with Hoar seems like he ussually got stuck to just being a footnote here or there. As far as other favorite deities i dont know they all have their place i guess. I kinda dig Cyric. Its not i argee with his dogma or anything i just like his attitude. While the other gods are sittin back just maintaining the balance or what ever Cyrics in there gettin his hands dirty f*ckin sh*t up. Just think where the realms would be with out Cyric. Any way Praise be to Hoar Lord of the Three Thunders!! |
| #54LordManshoonAug 07, 2009 13:05:58 | Close enough. :P This is handgrenades, not precision shooting. :D ;) Shevarash is the one who can go fly a kite. And he probably does skin babies, drow ones at least. Miserable little sot. I'm not denying it.:P And Corellon will skin *you* and make a kite from the skin. Wait, no, that's me doing the skinning and kite-making. It's Corellon who will lovingly take your soul after you die and let you spend your afterlife in Arvandor as an elf, singing and dancing among the trees. ![]() See? You're so violent! Just like the rest of your elven kin! Your true colors show. Meanwhile, you make a really nice kite. :P And you, elf, make a lovely lampshade Or toilet paper. Or...:P |
| #55Nai_CalusAug 07, 2009 14:52:12 | I'm not denying it.:P Hah. I knew it. :P
I will bring the love and joy of Corellon to you. Whether you want it or not. If it kills you. I only get violent because you do not want to be shown the light. ;~;And you, elf, make a lovely lampshade Or toilet paper. Or...:P But not as good as you make a kite. ;) (Technically if we wanna go off my username I'd be a half-elf I suppose, Nai Calus was my first D&D character, a half-elven Bard. Half 3.5 core Grey Elf for full 'my elven relatives are jerks to me but I love elves anyway' angst.) |
| #56LordManshoonAug 07, 2009 15:05:58 | I will bring the love and joy of Corellon to you. Whether you want it or not. If it kills you. The light that blinds... But not as good as you make a kite. ;) Please. If I was a kite, my string would be piano wire. I'd circle around the guy's head and decapitate him. And I'd do it again and again to others. And this has the plot of a potential Stephen King novel.:P (Technically if we wanna go off my username I'd be a half-elf I suppose, Nai Calus was my first D&D character, a half-elven Bard. Half 3.5 core Grey Elf for full 'my elven relatives are jerks to me but I love elves anyway' angst.) The irony here is that Half-Elf is my favorite D&D race, and my current character is a Half-Drow Rogue.:D :P |
| #57angelus_obscuraAug 07, 2009 23:14:30 | The light that blinds... Turn away from the light that blinds and burns. Seek the cool and comforting embrace of darkness. Let Shar bless you and keep you. ![]() Show We have cookies. |
| #58LordManshoonAug 07, 2009 23:24:16 | That's okay. I'm happy with Helm. Neither light nor shadow in his path (or alternatively, plenty of both).:fight!: Though I might take an interest in Shar after Mask pops out of her hoo-hah and ganks Cyric in Paul S. Kemp's next trilogy.:P |
| #59angelus_obscuraAug 07, 2009 23:42:56 | That's okay. I'm happy with Helm. Neither light nor shadow in his path (or alternatively, plenty of both).:fight!: Ah, but the shadow is not of Shar, but a child of Light! Shar is darkness, the nonexistence of light. And shadows cannot exist without light. Something to think about in Helmday school ![]() Though I might take an interest in Shar after Mask pops out of her hoo-hah and ganks Cyric in Paul S. Kemp's next trilogy.:P That's a downstairs mix-up I don't want to read about. Besides, Mask already pwn3d Cyric by stealing a temple from him without even doing it himself or via cronies. That's skill. |
| #60LordManshoonAug 08, 2009 0:03:43 | Ah, but the shadow is not of Shar, but a child of Light! Shar is darkness, the nonexistence of light. And shadows cannot exist without light. Something to think about in Helmday school ![]() Hate to break it to you, but the 4E FRCG begs to differ: Pg. 80: Greater Gods Shar Sphere: Shadows Although I truly preferred Shar = Darkness, Mask = Shadow (which is still the way it is in my realms). So Shar = Shadow now, boys and girls. :P That's a downstairs mix-up I don't want to read about. I can think of another place Mask might pop out of, if you prefer.:D Besides, Mask already pwn3d Cyric by stealing a temple from him without even doing it himself or via cronies. That's skill. Yep. Now he gets to finish the job and take back what Cyric wrongfully took shortly after the ToT. |
| #61angelus_obscuraAug 08, 2009 0:13:57 | Hate to break it to you, but the 4E FRCG begs to differ: Pfft. I've read it, and promptly ignored it. Shadow is D&D's answer for everything related to darkness. What a bunch of twaddle. I can think of another place Mask might pop out of, if you prefer.:D He does love those back doors and back alleys. AHEM. xD ![]() |
| #62MirtekAug 08, 2009 4:25:37 | 1. Cyric 2. Falazure 3. Garyx 4. Kelemvor 5. Garagos That's a downstairs mix-up I don't want to read about. Besides, Mask already pwn3d Cyric by stealing a temple from him without even doing it himself or via cronies. That's skill. Yeah, because stealing a single stone tower totally makes up for losing an portfolio and so much of his divine essence that he got reduced to demigod status for some time. Not to mention his fight with Cyric resulting in Mask so quickly fleeing for his live after Cyric's first blow that onlookers wondered whether the first blow didn't already annihilate him :P |
| #63keverasAug 08, 2009 6:52:42 | Shadow is D&D's answer for everything related to darkness. No, not D&D's but just 4e's answer. Good ol' previous editions had nothing to do with that. Maybe 3e at it's end, but then it was already dying ;) |
| #64nightseerAug 08, 2009 7:42:05 | 4E is D&D too you know....;) Dont start sounding like a 2E Grognard.:P (3E isnt D&D!:rolleyes ![]() Lest Rauric(sp) smite thee with his sig! ![]() I like the idea of Mask rumaging around inside Shar! ![]() |
| #65LordManshoonAug 08, 2009 11:23:14 | I like the idea of Mask rumaging around inside Shar! I can picture it now: Cyric: Free at last! Thank you Shar! Shar: Joy is false. You can thank me by aiding me in slaying Selune. Cyric: Wonderful! What's your plan? Shar: First, we shall- oooooh! Cyric: ... You okay? Shar: I just felt something I've never felt before in my entire existence, in a part of me that has been left undisturbed by all amorous deities since the dawn of time. Cyric: That's... a tad gross. Shar: I wonder why I --- *out pops Mask* Mask: Surprise, motherf____r! *slays Cyric and reclaims his lost power* ![]() |
| #66lord_karsusAug 08, 2009 11:26:10 | -Alright, alright, everyone settle down. |
| #67LordManshoonAug 08, 2009 11:33:13 | -Alright, alright, everyone settle down. Saw an opening. Couldn't help it.:D But, since we seem to be moving astray... ![]() As a fan of Mask, who I reiterate is my second favorite Faerunian deity (yay on-topic!) I can only hope that my aforementioned scenario appears in the upcoming Cycle of Night trilogy. And I hope that Lliira, who, again, is my third favorite Faerunian deity, gets some of the spotlight in 4E. And, I've remembered something. A couple years ago there was a poll like this on these boards, and Tymora came in first. If memory serves me correctly, Mystra was second, Lathander was third, and Helm was fourth. Things seem to have shaken up a bit (for the better). EDIT: This ties in to my earlier claim that Rillifane Rallathil is my second favorite elven deity. Well, I just picked up The Edge of Chaos by Jak Koke and I've read the first fifty pages or so. The main character seems to have spent part of his life with elves; he scorns the elves, particularly the clerics of Silvanus amongst them. Now, it's only one possibly inconsequential detail, and I need to read the rest of the book, but I think it's interesting that an elven community would pay homage to Silvanus when they've always worshipped Rillifane. Unless of course, there's a revelation in the works as to a certain someone's identity. More coming soon. Hopefully I'm horribly wrong, but my retcon-senses are tingling... |

While Faiths and Avatars doesn't make any mention of elven worshippers of Silvanus, it's not entirely implausible that more neutral-minded elves might turn to him rather than the CG Rillifane. Or turned to him out of necessity with Rillifane's apparent disappearance. It'd be kind of odd if they were the same now and even more kludgey than Sehanine == Selune since other than 'unspoiled nature' I don't really get much of a sameness from them at all. Silvanus' entry can be summed up as 'zong balance'. Of the Seldarine, Corellon, Angharradh, Solonor and Rillifane are noted as having Silvanus as an ally, so again, possibly going with related god. At least I hope so because 'Rillfane = Silvanus' would make me facepalm. (I'd forgotten that Shevarash has an alliance with Shar. Yet another reason to hate the little twerp. We need an Elven god of Mercy, Compassion and Reconciliation to balance him out, damn it.) Poor Rillifane. One of the original elven gods and they just have him vanish without saying anything about it. ;~; |

I still have a little less than half the book to go. But the descriptions of the Wildhome clerics seem to give off that "sinking feeling". I'll keep reading and try to discern the truth. It'd be kind of odd if they were the same now and even more kludgey than Sehanine == Selune since other than 'unspoiled nature' I don't really get much of a sameness from them at all. Silvanus' entry can be summed up as 'zong balance'. Aye. But would that stop the designers (or Jak Koke, who might have gone rogue for all I know)? Of the Seldarine, Corellon, Angharradh, Solonor and Rillifane are noted as having Silvanus as an ally, so again, possibly going with related god. At least I hope so because 'Rillfane = Silvanus' would make me facepalm. Rill's my second fav Seldarine member, so for me it would be: ![]() (I'd forgotten that Shevarash has an alliance with Shar. Yet another reason to hate the little twerp. We need an Elven god of Mercy, Compassion and Reconciliation to balance him out, damn it.) You know in your heart that Shevarash is the way, the truth, the life. And by "way", I mean the most efficient way to exterminate drow. And by "truth", I mean a propaganda-fueled, anti-drow crusade that will result in Toril War 1. And by "life", I mean a life of vengeance and solemn wrath. But you know what the kicker is? Corellon approves of all of this.:P Poor Rillifane. One of the original elven gods and they just have him vanish without saying anything about it. ;~; Well, let's not give up hope. Maybe Jak Koke has the answers we crave. EDIT: Poor Jak Koke. Such a burden suddenly hefted onto his shoulders. Don't fail me, Jak! |

I'd put my money on Hoar, but part of that could be because at least Hoar has a fun sense of humor. Sure he broods, but every now and then something happens that leaves him laughing like a madman. |
