Context: I'm currently playing an elven avenger and without knowing much about Shevarash I realized that his personality and style is very fitting as one trait about my character is that he vowed to never laugh again until he exacted vengeance upon those who slew his family and village. I was (whishfully I guess) thinking of Skill, it fits the bit about his followers being very rigidly disciplined and constantly praticing combat tactics and mapping the underdark. My other idea was War, even though he is not really a war god, he vows a constant hatred and vengeance upon the drow, but this one I'm not sure. What would be your recommendations? |

Broadly speaking, and of course in addition to Vengeance, I'd consider Skill, War, Protection, Death, Justice, Fate, and Strength....probably in that order of preference. I hadn't thought of War before you mentioned it, but it does tie in the fact that Shevaresh means business in regards to alllllllllll the drow. I kinda lean towards Skill because it evokes the diety's personal story more, imo. That's what is so compelling about him....his story of very grim dedication and accomplishment. It also gives a more "loner" feel than War does. While I guess Shevaresh leads "crusades" against the drow, I feel like 1) not only would he prefer whatever tool does the job best at a particular time (i.e., warfare wouldn't necessarily trump using a hunt/raid/sorcery/assassination) but 2) I just don't see hordes of elves constantly swelling the ranks. It seems kind of like this intense thing. You're supposed to stop smiling forever! Sheesh. There's the Underdark warfare element, sure...but really, meh imho. It's arguable though. Hope that helps with your ponderings! ![]() ![]() |

I did not really ponder the fact the Shevarash was an exarch, I talked about it to the DM this weekend and he seemed open to allowing anything from 1 to 3 domains, as long as I have a good reason as to why. I think we'll settle for Vengeance and Skill for now. War being a bit too "organized" for him, you brought good points. |

Considering Shevarash effectively declared a crusade against Lolth, her crones and her subjects, and he and his clergy wont stop untill this war ends with Lolth demise I think the War domain fits Sheverash like a glove. His clergy also erect shrines to Shevarash on places where drow can emerge into elven lands, and those shrines are effectively military outposts capable of withstanding sieges of several weeks, with ample supplies of fresh water, weapons and ammunition. The Black Archers crusade isn't about to end anytime soon. Corellon Larethian is also the elven god of war, but his forte is defence of the surface elves, and its not particularly the pro-active attitude Shevarash desires. This has made him seek divine allies outside the Seldarine, which includes questionable dieties such as Hoar and Shar. These human god influences might make a good reason to allow the Destruction domain, with a heavy focus on destroying Drow-related things. |
